hey Kat, you've talked about one piece a bit. Are you planning to write for it at some point?
I've definitely thought about it, but I'm still so early in the manga and One Piece has soooo many amazing characters that I haven't met yet. So I kind of just want to enjoy the manga until I get at least halfway through then I'd think more about writing for it.
Also waiting so there will be more characters for me to write since writing for the same characters again and again can get kind of draining (at least for me, anyway)

Imagine | Lost (Zoro)
Imagine getting lost with Zoro.
Word Count: 1,604
Warnings: hurt/comfort

Things haven't gone according to plan. Of course, that's the norm when you're traveling with Luffy and the rest of the Strawhats. Each crew member has their own quirks, but sometimes everyone manages to stay relatively on track.
Except for Zoro.
The green haired swordsman is notorious for his directional challenges. He even gets lost on his own ship, that's how hopeless his sense of direction is.
So, when everyone splits up to search for the current treasure of the day, you watch with a chuckle as Zoro immediately storms off in the wrong direction.
Huffing with laughter, you race to catch up with him. You trail beside him until he notices and raises a brow at you.
"Huh, what're you doing? We're supposed to split up."
"Oops," you grin at him, chuckling at his exasperated sigh.
He doesn't stop walking, "Go away."
"No."
"I'm serious.”
"Whatcha gonna do? Stick me with your big sword?" You hide your laugh behind your hand as his ears turn beet red.
"If you're gonna follow me, at least shut your mouth," he grumbles.
Smirking at your victory, you subtly start walking a bit closer to him, eyes roaming the area for any potential threats or treasures.
If he notices how close you are, he doesn't comment. He's also on the lookout for danger, hand resting idly on the hilt of his sword.
You've always admired how ready for a fight his is- never letting his guard down. Even when he's 'napping', he's still paying attention to his surroundings.
You've tried a few times to prank him when you thought he was fast asleep but failed every single time. He seems to be able to sense your proximity every time you get within five meters of him.
Even now, as you walk in close proximity, you can't help but admire him. His tall posture and alert eyes that peer  into the forest. His soft green hair slightly tousled from the wind.
"You're staring," his voice bears a tinge of smugness, making you whip your head the opposite way.
"Was not."
"Was too."
"I wasn't. I don't know why you'd even think that," you cross your arms and turn to look at him again. "Not like there's much to look at."
Your tone and smirk betray your lies, Zoro unable to stop from smirking along with your teasing.
"Really? Nothing at all?"
"Of course, I'd never ogle at you and your well trained muscles."
He smirks, turning away from you.
It's been like this since you were welcomed into the Strawhat Crew, easy banter between you and the swordsman. After you had proven your loyalty to Luffy that is. You believe Zoro values loyalty above all else.
Zoro had warmed up to you more than he had some of the others.
There'd been an unspoken tension between you: lingering glances and touches mingled with flirtatious words and playful gestures.
He'd let you drag him into drinking contests (which you always lost), nap beside him, and even join his workouts.
And you'd always tease him (backing off immediately when you noticed that he had enough), and steered him in the right direction when he got horribly lost.
Like right now.
"Zoro, I'm pretty sure we have to go left here," you point out.
"I knew that," he grumbles and alters his course. "I was just scouting the area."
"Uh-huh."
"I was!"
Laughing, you hop onto a large fallen tree that blocks your path. You turn to taunt Zoro a bit more, but you pause as a loud shot rings out.
Sudden pain shoots through your leg as blood splatters around you. You crumble down off the log, saved from a hard landing by strong arms.
Stunned, you look up into Zoro's eyes.
"You're alright," he says firmly as he sets you down against the tree. "It just got you in the leg."
Dumbly, you stare into his face, barely registering his words or his angered expression.
"You stay here and I'll be right back."
You nod, unable to do much more. As you watch him leave, you meekly call out to him, "Don't you dare get lost."
~
He didn't get lost, to your immense surprise.
By now, the shock has worn off and the pain has really kicked in. The bullet went straight through the meat of your leg, luckily not shattering bone. But you will need Chopper to get a better look and bandage it properly.
Right now you're using a strip of your shirt as a makeshift bandage and it's already soaked through. As Zoro does a second assessment.
"You're fine."
You glare at him, "I'm in pain."
"You'll live."
"Good thing, cause if I didn’t I'd haunt your ass!"
Shaking his head, he crouches in front of you, "Can you walk at least?"
You level a deadpan stare at him.
He sighs heavily, "Guess I'll just have to carry you then."
"No, no way."
"It's either that or you walk."
"You need your hands to fight in case there's more enemies," you reason. "Can't use your swords if you're carrying me."
"I'll just set you down."
"No, you'd drop me. And I don't want to be dropped right now," you fire back.
He stands up straight and glares down at you.
"What if you carry me on your shoulders?" You suggest. "That way your arms will be free and you can still fight."
"Fine," he agrees.
You wince as you stand on your uninjured leg, motioning for him to bend down so you can get your legs on his shoulders. He obliges and you precariously manage to seat yourself on his shoulders.
He stands without a problem, steadying you with one hand on your thigh.  Pain floods your sense for a second but it is quick to fade as you realize something.
You realize the extent of the compromising position you've put yourself in.
You're on top of Zoro's shoulders, hands on his head to steady yourself as he grips your thigh with his broad hand.
You flush with embarrassment. Beneath you, you can see the dusting of a blush across Zoro's ears and cheeks.
"Thank you for this," you say, unsure of what to do with your hands. The desire to run your fingers through his hair is immense and it takes all your will power to not act on it.
"I appreciate it, Zoro."
He grunts, "Just don't get injured again and we'll call it even."
"Hey, I didn't wanna be shot!"
"You made yourself an easy target!"
"I thought we were alone!"
"You should've known better!"
"I can't believe you're blaming me right now," you say in exasperating. "By the way, you're going north and the ship is to the south."
He grumbles beneath you but does switch his course to follow where you pointed. You wince every so often as he jostles you.
"Sorry," he says, very uncharacteristically.
Surprised, you lean over to stare into his face.
"For what?"
"I should've sensed that sniper but I was distracted," he grits his teeth in annoyance. "If I had seen him, you wouldn't have been hurt."
"Distracted?" You raise a brow, "You were distracted?"
"Don't-"
"Was it me that distracted you?" You grin, forgetting your pain. "Were you perhaps staring at me?"
"Forget I said anything."
"Too late! Admit it, you were checking me out."
His delightful blush is back in full force, "Was not! I was making sure you didn't fall."
You pat his cheek, "Well, you did catch me when I fell. And I guess I fell for you."
He stumbles slightly, making you laugh and cry out in pain at the same time.
"Watch your step Rorozo," you smack him lightly on the head.
"Don't call me that."
"Never," you run your hand over his hair, "I think you secretly like it."
He doesn't say anything and neither do you. Despite your injury, you are enjoying the moment of closeness between you and the swordsman.
It's moments like these that lighten your heart and bring a smile to your face.
His hand shifts over your thigh, "Maybe I do like it. This."
"Me?" You add softly, tracing patterns through his soft hair.
"Maybe."
"Well, maybe I do too," you bend down and press a kiss to his forehead. "Like you."
His hand tightens on your leg, his other hand coming up to caress your hair in a rare display of physical affection.
"Y'know, Sanji's gonna faint when he sees us like this," you chuckle, imagining his reaction.
"Maybe that stupid love-cook will finally leave you alone."
"Sanji? Stop fawning over a drop dead gorgeous woman? It's unlikely."
Zoro reads his head up to try and glare at you, making you wince as you jolt your injured leg.
"Don't worry Rorozo- I only have eyes for you."
At that confession, he stops in his tracks.
"That's it."
He lowers you to the ground, your confusion growing. Weren't you both on the same page just a second ago?
You're not on the ground for long though, as Zoro picks you up bridal-style and stares into your eyes.
"When you say things like that," he tsks, "I want to shut you up."
Before you can ask what he means, he presses his lips against yours, hard.
He breaks away far too soon, “That’s better.”
“If that’s how you’re gonna do it, you can shut me up anytime,” you grin, lean your head against him.
Wrapped up in his warm embrace, you’ve forgotten all about the pain in your leg…
Or the fact that Zoro is once again walking in the wrong direction.

MIRRORS
Trafalgar Law x f!reader
TW : angst to fluff. slight suggestive, but no smut. MDNI PLEASE
WC : 3.3k
a/n : kinda shock that I can writes this long. I write this while listening to Justin Timberlake - Mirrors, hence the title. In the mood with angst, why I even like to torture myself with angst ಥ‿ಥ Also this is my first time trying to writes something suggestive, I'm sorry if it's sucks. Lastly but not least, I'm sorry if there's grammar mistakes.
Tumblr media
Jealousy is such an ugly feeling. Sometimes you can’t help to be self conscious with yourself. Sometimes it can makes you feel insecure.
The Heart Pirates currently visiting The Sunny. Luffy invited Law for a party, he said it’s been a while that he didn’t meet Law plus Luffy want to exploring this new island together.
Since it’s quite been a while the Polar Tang ashore and meeting with the old friends you choose to dress up a little to lighten your mood. Wearing a backless long white sundress, with a long slit on the left side pairing with a wedges.
When you joined the other crews on Sunny, Sanji immediately rushing to you taking your hand and kissing the back of it, “Ah y/n-chan. Long time no see. Look at you, getting more beautiful than before.” You giggles and say “Thank you for your compliment, Sanji. But you see Nami and Robin which more beautiful than me everyday.” You slip your hand back from Sanji and give him small smile and walk to the others.
One of the most observant member on the Strawhat, Zoro finds it weird. Why? Because while Sanji do his antics with you, your boyfriend and captain didn’t do anything to it. Law just give a slight glance and then looks away. Sure Law’s stares filled with annoyance but he didn’t do anything. But Zoro just shrug it off.
Why is Law didn’t do anything to it? Why is Law didn’t stayed at your side? Because he trust you? Well yeah, maybe. But the other reason is because of the fights both you had days before. The reason of the fight? He forgot. But with his stubbornness he won’t apologize first. Nor were you. Not because of your stubbornness. No. Because you so fed up with always being the one to apologize first. Being the first one to reach out first. Being the only one to fight for this relationship to make it work.
So fucking tired. Does he really loves you? Does he wants this relationship? Does he needs you? Is this the end of it? All of sudden the negative thoughts gnawed your brain. You try to choke back the tears, giving the best smiles to the peoples.
Law saw how Sanji compliments you and kiss your hand. He feels a little sharp pain in his chest. He is jealous, but he won’t admit it out loud. He wants to yank you and keeps you by his side. Especially how beautiful you looks with that sundress. It's really been a long time he didn't see you dress up. But his pride is bigger than anything else. So he just sending death glare to Sanji while he talks to Luffy.
Law did realize Zoro kinda observed him and you but he just shook of Zoro observation. Law knows Zoro won’t do anything to you. Law knows how much you loves him and won’t even gives other men chances to flirt with you.
He did feels guilty over your fight days before. Yet he doesn’t want to apologize first. He is busy and he is so sure that after you calm down you will come to him, apologize or just brings him his favorite onigiri made by yourself that he loves the most.
Before exploring the island, Sanji prepare a massive lunch for both crews to enjoy. As Law sit beside you and eat in silence, you give a small talk to Zoro whose also sit beside you. The crews know Zoro is not a big talker, yet he still engage with your small talk because he respect your as a fellow swordman. A skillful one he might said. The corner of Law's eye caught you and Zoro interactions, why the hell you didn't talk to him? Are you ignoring him now? You want to play this kind of game? Fine. Two can play the game.
Law then talk to Chopper about a new medical books and also gives some information about new historical books to Robin. You caught his talks with Robin, you know Robin means no harm to you. But you can't help the negatives thoughts you had deep inside your brain that start to crawl out to the surface. She is so beautiful, so smart, her intelligence is top tier, heck she IS the Ohara's scholar, she can read the poneglyphs, her devil fruit power is insane, her body can makes every men drools. Compare to you? You don't have devil fruit power, you don't have that kind of body, you are nothing compare to her.
The explorer team to the island is Luffy, Zoro, Robin, Law and you. the other choose to stay behind and wait while enjoying Sanji's desserts. The Heart Pirate crews feels a little bit relieved when both of you goes to the island, truth be told they can't stand the heavy tension from both of you. Even the chaotic trio choose to stay at the Sunny. You choose to walk at the back and walk with Zoro, since Nami ask a favor to not let Zoro get lost.
"Did something happened with Torao and you?" Zoro break the silence. You try to keep your cool and stay calm, "What? No. Nothings happen." Giving your sweetest smile to Zoro. Heck. Zoro doesn't convince with your answer but he won't push anything further. So he just hummed and stick to your side so he won't get lost.
When you stare at your front and see Law still talks to Robin you can't help the dark thoughts controlling your minds, and that pang on your chest. You bite your inner lips to stay calm and keep walking.
The chaos start when Luffy accidentally poke a beast, that it goes rampant and started to chase all of you. "RUUNN!! GET BACK TO SUNNY!" Luffy laugh and start to punch the beast. You start to run back as fast as you can. Almost slipping you try to balance yourself but alas you can feel your left ankle bend to the other way and you hiss. The throbbing pain makes you lost your balance and you sure your face gonna meet the soil ground.
You feel a hand wrap around your back and swoop you up, another hand on the back of your knees. But the hands feels different than the usual that always caressing you softly. Oh.. It's Zoro that held you. Stunned, you just stare at his face with confuse looks. "Better not get that pretty face of yours kissing the ground" He smirk and run fast, yet you still need to tell him the right direction.
Law saw it. How Zoro's hands touching your bare skin. The skin that ONLY him can touch, the skin that he always kiss tenderly every nights. You even didn't resist to Zoro's touch, you even link your arm to his neck, you even didn't look to his direction. The anger burn more faster almost clouded Law thoughts. If only he stay at your side, he will be the one that carry you right now.
After all of you reach Sunny, Zoro put you down slowly. Nami, Chopper and the chaotic trio rushing to you and bombarded you with questions. Sanji bickering with Zoro asking why the hell he is carrying you. "I sprained my ankle and Zoro helped me." Chopper touch your ankle lightly and you hiss, "Come on, let's go to the infirmary. Zoro, help me carry her."
Before Zoro reach you, Law already stand in front of you and say "I got it from here. I'm taking her back to the ship." He picks you up in bridal style but you don't link your arms to his neck, you cross your arms and don't look at him at all. He hold you tightly, oh how he miss your skin in his hands. Law just sighs and teleport back to the Tang.
Law takes you to the infirmary and set you down slowly on the bed. While he prepares to get the ice pack, you just stare at his back. When he turns back to you, you avert your eyes and just stare at the corner. Law sighs and kneel, taking your swollen feet slowly and place it on his right thigh. You hiss at the contact and looks down scowling at Law, but he doesn't look up and you can't see his face either because of his hat.
Law slowly takes off your wedges and putting the ice pack on your ankle, while his other thumb rubbing your foot. If only both of you are not fighting, you will tease him for how romantic he is right now. Shit. You can feel your tears are swelling up, you quickly wipe it with your back of hand, not wanting Law to see the tears.
After wrapping the ice pack carefully to your ankle, Law put your foot on the stool. He stands up and part your other thigh so he can stand between it. Law place his hands on your side, caging you and stare at you. Law sighs because you still stare at the corner, he brings his hand and cups your chin to look at him. Still angry you don't follow his hand movement.
"Y/n-ya, look at me."
Tears begin to swell again, threatening to fall. And finally you look at him pushing his hand from your chin. Law furrow his eyebrows "Are you still mad at me? Can't we just forget it? It's been days you know." He hates when you cry, he hates when the reason you cry is him. It hurts him. Yet he doesn't say the words that you need to hear the most.
That's it. That's enough. "Let's just break up." The tears finally coming down, you try your best to not choke on your words. Law can't believe what he heard "Wh- What? Why? Stop joking, y/n-ya. It's not funny."
"I'm not joking. I'm tired, Law. I'm tired for being the one that always reach you first every times we had fights. I'm tired for always being the one to apologizes, I'm tired that I'm the only one who fight for this relationship to make it works. I had enough, Law." You sobbing but still try to finish your sentences, to make it clear for him. Your trembling voice and sobs breaks Law's heart, he just stare at you blankly trying to process everything you said.
"Maybe I'm not the one for you. Yo- you look perfect with Robin.” You are sobbing mess right now, trying to wipe your tears but it just won’t stop and you just stare at his chest, you don’t want to see his face, you are afraid. Deep down you want to end things, but the other small part of your heart you still love him.
Law can feel his body trembling. Shock with your confession. Why is he takes your love for granted? Why is he so confident that you will never leave him? He doesn’t know that he hurt you this deeply. Seeing you in this state really break his heart. He cups your cheeks, wiping your tears away and lift your face to look at him. Then you see it for the first time, he is in the verge to cry and now you can feel his hands trembling.
“Please, y/n-ya. Don’t go. Don’t leave me too. I’m sorry. Please… You are the one for me, right from the beginning. I can’t imagine someone else stand beside me. It has to be you. So please don’t say that I’m look good with someone else. You are the one I love. I’m sorry if I hurt you, it’s not my intention. I never want to hurt you. Please… I’m sorry, don’t go. I’ll try my best for you, I’ll do anything for you so please don’t leave me.” Tears roll down on his cheeks.
Trafalgar Law, The Surgeon of Death, the man that everyone fear. For the first time he lays his heart bare to you, for the first time he cries for you. He is just a human after all. Behind that tough demeanor he is just a soft man with a fragile heart.
You cups his cheek and wipe the tears away, “Law, can I trust you again with my heart?” He nods.
“Will you break my heart again, Law?” He shakes his head.
“Will you fight together with me to make this relationship work?”
“Yes..” He breath out the word.
You link your arms to his neck and bring him closer to you, when you lock eyes with him you smiles and kiss him. "Thank you. I love you, Law." You take his hat off and put it to your side and you press your forehead to his. Law wrap his arms to your back, bringing his body closer to you leave no gaps between both of you. "I love you, y/n-ya. You are the only one for me." Kissing you more deeply this time, he press his body to you, one hand cradling your jaw to deepen the kiss. He swipe his tongue on your bottom lips, asking for permission. You part your lips for him, and he put his tongue in. He will kiss you like the first time over and over again until you get bored with it. His other hand on your back squeezing it tightly because he remember Zoro's hand had touched your bare skin.
Law break the kiss so that you can take a breath, he peppered your neck with kisses and mumbling "I don't like other men touching you." You giggles "He helped me, you know." Law nuzzle his head on your neck and bite your shoulder, he lap it with his tongue to ease the pain, "I still don't like it. And why are you not wearing a bra?" He scowl at you. "Because it's backless. How am I supposed to wear a bra? Besides nobody knows I'm not wearing one. Except you." You smirk and peck his lips.
Law groans, a blush tinted on his face. "Careful, princess. Are you trying to seduce me, y/n-ya?" Law hands start to roam your exposed thighs slowly reaching up and he starts to kiss your neck again, leaving some visible marks. You whine with the contact. While his hand reach yours, he then remember that Sanji kissed your hand. Law abandon your neck and shoot you a glare.
"What's wrong?" You tilt your head while Law stare at your hand and rubs it gently. "That damn Kuroashi kissed your hand." Law rubs your back of hand like Aladdin rubs his magic lamp. You laugh with his antics "Stop it. It's getting red." You try to yank your hand from him, but Law hold it and brings it to his lips. Kissing it numerous times lovingly. "Told ya, I hate it when other men touch you. Gotta disinfect it."
From the back of your hand, he trail the kiss up to your arm, up to your neck and he stop, he lock his grey eyes with you placing your arm to his neck again. Law graze his thumb on your bottom lip, the other hand on your neck, "You are beautiful, y/n-ya. You are perfect for me. Don't ever doubt it. I will say it again and again so you will never say those words to me." He lock his lips with yours giving you no time to react to his words, he put his tongue in, taking your breath away, holds you tightly because he's afraid you will slip away and leave him. He nibs your bottom lips and then let it go.
He smiles and satisfied when he see your swollen lips, panting, eyes looking at him as if asking for more. He let out a chuckle "See, you are so beautiful, y/n-ya." While he caressing your cheek and peck you again. Your face getting more red you whine, you hides your face to his chest, "Dummy. Let's go back to the Sunny. They must been worry about us."
"What? You want to go back? You sure? You sure you don't want to stay here and continue with what we've been doing?" Law kiss your upper head and rubs your back. Damn tease. "I'm hungry, Law. Plus I still need to thank Zoro for saving me." You trace some of his heart tattoo. "Don't forget I hurt my ankle, babe." You jabs his chest with your finger.
"Finee.." Law reluctant to let you go, then he smirk at you "I can chop your ankle off with my power, so you won't feel hurt during our activities, you know." He say it nonchalantly. You gasp at him "Seriously, Law? Heck no. It's weird and a lil bit horror." You slaps his arm and want to wipe that smirk off of his face.
He let out a hearty laugh and put back his hat on. He gets his dark blue coat and drape it on your shoulder, takes your sandals and put it on on you. "Law, your coat is too big for me." You whine. "Hush. I don't want any wandering eyes on you, especially when you are not wearing a bra. Or you want the others see those red marks on your neck?" He kneels and check your swollen ankle, "Looks good now. The swelling had reduced." He stands up and see your red face, he chuckles.
He carefully carries you in bridal style, "Let's go." You hum and link your arms on his neck. He teleports both of you back on Polar Tang's deck, while enjoying the pretty orangish sunset for a moment Law tighten his grips and nuzzles your nose, "Don't leave me, love." His stares is just so full of love for you, how can you not love this man with all of your heart. "Never. As long as I breath, I will not leave you, Law. I love you." Then you hide your face on his neck, leaves some tender kisses on it. He smiles and nuzzles your face, "I love you most, darling."
"OOIII TORAOOO!! Y/N!!" Luffy waves his hand when he see both of you reaching Sunny. "How's your ankle, y/n?" Nami ask with concern in her face. "It's all good now, but still a lil bit painful." You smiles to her, and you see Zoro at the corner "Law, put me down. I can walk by myself." Law furrows his eyebrows, "Nuh uh. You mustn't walk for a while." He takes you to where Zoro at. "Zoro, thank you for saving me. I will bring you sake later as my thanks." You say cheerfully. "Heh. No biggie." Zoro smirks.
Law takes you to bench and put you down slowly, he sits next to you and won't leave your side. When Sanji brings out dinner, Luffy shouts happily "Dinner!! Party!! Party!!" Usopp sighs "What the hell we partying for?" Sachi brings the glass up "For the lovebird!" The other Heart Pirate crews also brings their glass up "FOR THE LOVEBIRD!!" Finally they won't feel the heavy thick tension on the sub anymore. Surprisingly Luffy also join in, "FOR TORAO AND Y/N!" And the banquet begins.
You leans in on Law and laugh at the whole situations, you peek from the corner of your eyes and see Law's subtle smile behind his glass. Law notices you've been eyeing him, he turns his head to you and intertwine his fingers with yours and gives you a peck on your lips. Both of you just smiles at each other, as if the world belonged to just the two of you.
Trafalgar D. Water Law, for the other people he is a fearsome Captain of Heart Pirates, The Supernova, The Surgeon of Death, and so many other titles. But with you, he is just a lovesick man.

I love the Heart Pirates 🥰♥️. Would you write sth for the relationship Law and his crew (especially Bepo🐻)? Does Law love his crew just the same as he loves Cora?
Sure, this will be that post :D there isn't that many Hearts Pirates scenes in the manga, so it will probably end up being more Hearts appreciation post than strict analysis :) but I will do my best! Also I will use some neat quotes from the novel, in case you want to skip those they're all written in italics so it's easy to avoid them!
Also really sorry it took me forever to get to this ask!
Tumblr media
Let's introduce our power rangers Sora-fanboying crew. That idea probably got born all the way back in the North Blue, when Law, Bepo, Penguin and Shachi were living together as children and sharing stories and talking into late night hours before falling asleep.
Tumblr media
First of all, Hearts Pirates are strategists. All crewmates know their roles they have to play in a battle. There's always someone responsible for the Polar Tang, usually it's Hakugan (taking care of the ship so it doesn't get damaged is essential, because that ship is not only their means of travelling but also their home). There are people responsible for providing cover (Shachi and Penguin, Law's most trusted guys besides Bepo). There is a bodyguard - Jean Bart (or should I call him a tank? :D), making sure Law doesn't get hit when preparing powerful counterattacks.
Second of all, the biggest strength of Heart Pirates isn't their individual feats, fighting skills or not even their ace in the sleeve - the overpowered captain. Their true strength lies in their teamwork. They always work like a team, supporting each other and cooperating to help Law win his battles.
Hearts are apparently very strong in sea battles. Seems their usual strategy is to go for sinking the enemy's ship (very sly and effective). They're also good at fighting in the water, which is refreshing in comparison to many other crews depending solely on devil fruits powers.
Also RIP Polar Tang :(
Tumblr media
Bepo has actually the most jobs to do, surprisingly. He's the navigator, he's the main attacker who often plays support for Law, but he also uses his mink/animal senses to track down enemies and instruct where each crewmate is needed! He's definitely very reliable.
Tumblr media
“Sorry, I got nothing. If only I was a smarter polar bear… I’m no use, I should just disappear.”
“Hah hah! Just having strong legs doesn’t make you the best at peddling, Bepo. Man, you really are clumsy. You were so wobbly I thought for sure you were going to crash. It was scary just watching you!”
“Hm, you’re right. I wonder why I can’t ride a bike to save my life… I’ll just leave and figure my life out then.”
Despite Bepo's poor self-esteem, he's a really good fighter. Bepo's kung-fu (bear-fu? :D) fighting style is so unique too. Law often trusts him to "take care of things". Bepo has also one more powerful ace up his sleeve, his sulong form, though apparently he can't control it at all. It's only thanks to Chopper's rumble ball that Bepo was able to control his form for the very first time, without even a full moon visible in the sky.
Tumblr media
Of course Bepo is also a very outstanding navigator. I mean, I dare you all to try to draw a better map with those huge paws! They're not exactly suited to hold a pen!
I do have to mention though that Law had a momentary pause before finding their current location ("around here") on this map, haha. He would never admit it though. He's so proud of his navigator! Also, keeping that map with him must have made Law happy, because he got reminded of Bepo even when he wasn't with him.
It's so tattered too and needed some tapes ;-;
Tumblr media
Bepo is also, sort of, second in command after Law. He's responsible for new recruits who work directly under him. That gives us some sort of insight in how the hierarchy works in Hearts crew. There is Law whose word is absolute, then Bepo, then Shachi and Penguin, then the rest, then the fresh recruits.
It's not quite like in Strawhats where everyone is more or less equal in their positions. Even in the novel Law sometimes calls them friends and sometimes underlings, but in Punk Hazard and Egghead he instead calls them "nakama" (his crewmates, companions), so that apparently has changed at some point as Law grew up.
These two are my subordinates! I won’t let scum like you call them “things”!
I let out a large sigh. I have to keep it together. I have to protect my underlings. My friends.
Bepo, Penguin, Shachi. I told you to be my underlings, so I have a responsibility as your boss.
As much as Law treats his Heart Pirates as equals, his responsibility over them makes him take a higher position over them. But he doesn't interfere much in how they organize things around each other. Bepo took it on himself to be the second in command and Law never protested or questioned that. Basically their importance in the crew is based on the order in which they joined.
“Hold on, both of you ate three pieces and I only had two! You guys are new here, so you should be putting me first!” (Bepo complains while Law thinks to himself:) I should have just given them all equal portions to begin with instead of piling everything on a single plate; that’s what I think as I quietly shovel my fourth piece into my mouth.
Law himself is a bit sneaky, he might think he should make sure things are more equal around his crew, but at the end of the day he just doesn't do anything about it. They're free to do whatever they want. That's the type of captain he is.
When Wolf is out of the house, the four of us work on the farm, go fishing, clean, and do the laundry. During free time, each of us will focus on the things we want to do. I spend most of my time reading medical books and learning how to use my power. Bepo uses his time to study navigation. Penguin and Shachi simply have a desire to get stronger. But since their way of doing things didn’t allow them to improve, I had to borrow weapons from Wolf and teach them swordsmanship and gunnery. Seeing someone I'm teaching getting better at it is more rewarding than I thought it would be. Whenever I see how happy Penguin or Shachi are when they hit the bullseye, I can’t help but smile.
Law also trained them all by himself.
Tumblr media
But back to Bepo. He's also a bit of a silly bear who needs to be looked after. He doesn't stand the heat very well, he's a bit of a slow thinker, he also panicks very easily and often calls out to Law to save him or stay with him. And that feeling is usually mutual, because Law also wants to take care of him:
“Don’t worry, Bepo. Even if you get injured and covered in blood, I’ll fix you up at the clinic.”
“Assuming I do get injured! Aye-aye!”
Hah hah. What a goof.
Bepo is a bit like a younger sibling to Law, he can be strong but also very clumsy and silly, and it for sure appeals to Law's protective side. He kinda stepped up (it was probably subconsciously) to be a temporary older brother figure for him in absence of Zepo. He was ready to throw away his Wano's raid plans just because Bepo had a stomachache and asked him to stay by his side. Bepo is also the only person Law has any sort of physical closeness with. Those two grew really close with each other.
Tumblr media
But Bepo is dependable when it matters. He was also a guardian of Whale Forest back on Zou, so Law isn't the only one who recognizes that quality in Bepo.
“Law, I brought you some hot tea. It’s made with tea from the old man’s garden. He said it helps calm nerves.”
“Thank you, Bepo.”
“No problem. You’ve been having nightmares a lot lately.”
“I know. I must be worrying Penguin and Shachi too.”
“You don’t want to talk about it?” Bepo asked with an earnest look on his face.
“No; right now, I can’t get my own thoughts together, sorry.”
“It’s fine. But I’m here if you ever want to talk about it.”
Law is close friends with Penguin and Shachi as well, but it seems it's Bepo he confides in most of the time. It might be because Bepo shows his concern and care very openly, making it especially hard for Law to refuse or dismiss it. And it's a good thing, because Law really needs someone openly caring and loving like Bepo in his life.
Tumblr media
Bepo is clearly higher in command than Penguin and Shachi, and they both respect him despite the rocky beginning of their friendship:
“That's what you thought while they beat you?”
“Yes. I thought if I let them do it, maybe we could become friends.” Friends. It’s a word I hadn't heard in a long time. I no longer have any. They were all burned in a fire. (…) As my mind wanders, I begin to wonder why a polar bear is here, alone. Actually, if I think about it, he’s probably just like I had been before. I've become a little more interested in his situation.
Tumblr media
Law's crew respects him and looks up to him, but they also voice out their own opinions and approvals or lack there of. They also occassionally allow themselves some really lewd comments, like in the picture above :D I bet you anything they would also call out Law on acting cute if they saw him with Chopper strapped to his head.
Tumblr media
Damn, Penguin even looks like he's a bit jealous of Chopper's position. They fanboy Law so much despite being slightly older than him!
Tumblr media
Shachi and Penguin are Law's intel and watchers. Penguin seems to be the smarter one out of the two of them, basing it on the rational comments he makes. But Shachi's skills in the water are also nothing to sneeze at! And as a bonus skill, Shachi apparently cuts the hair for others in the crew.
“Hey, you two.” I call Shachi and Penguin calmly. “You have nowhere to go, do you? I know you can't go back to your relatives' house either.”
“That is the only place we would never return to.”
“Alright; then you won't. Be my subordinates. And for now, you can live here.”
The four of us—myself, Bepo, Penguin and Shachi—have experienced immense loneliness in this world, and somehow managed to overcome despair.
I think it's possible Law recruited everyone in his crew in similar fashion (of course his first three friends remain special regardless). He seems to have easier time to relate to people who know how despair feels like and he wants to help them leave that feeling behind, to see things from a different perspective, to show them that no matter what, there are still probably other ways out, and if there aren't, he will make one happen.
Tumblr media
Heart Pirates are also responsible for lesser tasks so that Law himself doesn't have to do it, like keeping an eye on Luffy.
Tumblr media
Some Hearts, like Clione, Uni and Ikkaku even disagreed with the idea of the alliance. At first I thought Law told his crew that they don't have to get along with the Strawhats, because he respected that some might feel uncomfortable doing that, but nah, in the end it was just payback for Luffy not introducing Law to his own crew properly.
It's not the only time Law's crew complained to him so directly. When they were supposed to enter the New World, Law told them they need to wait and that they need to shut up and listen to him, because they should trust his plans. Despite his crew's big enthusiasm and competitive spirit, they were actually a bit scared to enter the New World, because when they saw beasts in the calm belt they definitely panicked a bit. So Law's decision was probably the right course of action.
Bepo also isn't afraid to scold his captain, when Law stares at yonko instead of escaping Marineford or when he chooses to drop down the waterfall in Wano. Law always seems to win each and every time tho. They also have no fear on calling him out for showing off ;)
Tumblr media
Let's not forget that despite the fact that Heart Pirates can voice their complains openly, they were still kinda left in the dark and learned about the alliance from the newspaper. Ouchie, Law :D Nami might have a point when she said Law is just like Luffy.
Tumblr media
They're very loyal, not only to Law, but to each other as well. They also share their duties on Polar Tang, like cleaning or maintaining the submarine, all together.
“You… no, the lot of you can really help others without asking anything in return, huh.” (Wolf about Law, Shachi, Penguin and Bepo)
Tumblr media
Shachi, Penguin and Bepo always accompany Law wherever he goes.
Tumblr media
His whole crew protects him whenever they can.
Tumblr media
And of course they love him so much. Law might be a grumpy captain, but he for sure returns the love he received from them, in his own way. Let's not forget Bepo, Penguin and Shachi were there for him when he lost everyone again, after what happened to Cora-san. They basically supported each other in their biggest time of need.
Tumblr media
Despite some of them protesting, they all get along with Strawhats in that alliance in the end :) Hearts are also very fun loving people, who definitely like to party :D
Tumblr media
Law might be quite overprotective about his crew, but he does trust them enough to take care of themselves and pick their own battles in the Onigashima's raid. Hearts also worry for Law a lot and cheer him on and celebrate his won battles ❤
“Hmph. Well, alright then. It’s just that when you’re not feeling well, the rest of the lot are out of it too.” (Wolfe said this to Law, suggesting that whenever Law is feeling under the weather, it affects his friends)
I have to act strong. I have to act cool. If I stay gloomy in this situation, the other three will continue to live in fear. I can’t let that happen. (Law to himself)
At first Law didn't think much about his responsibility over his crew, he learned that along the way and thanks to Wolf's guidance. He decided to do everything he can so he can protect his friends and show them that they can rely on him, and they make sure to return the favour.
Tumblr media
Now let's take a moment to celebrate Penguin and Shachi being little horny perverts ;)
In the end, I'm the only one scolded by Wolf. Bepo and the other two look at me like they are sorry, but I know that tomorrow things will be exactly the same. Since we’ve been living together, I’ve learned that these three will forget their transgressions in a day’s time.
This is probably another reason why Law chooses to ignore most of Hearts antics :D
Tumblr media
I gotta say Shachi is certainly having hots for Penguin, basing it on this image ;) or at least he would be even more into him if he had, well, bigger tits.
Tumblr media
Now we all know Law left his crew on Zou so that Doflamingo doesn't use them against him in the fight. But did you ever wonder why Law recruited Jean Bart into his crew? Saving a slave is one thing, but taking him into his crew is another. I think Law cares for his crew so much that he recruited someone strong and experienced as a captain who can take care of them in case Law can't (in time of need when he's missing in action, but also in case something went horribly wrong and they would be left without a captain). Recruiting Jean Bart was a strategic move and I believe it's to make sure someone takes care of the Heart Pirates in Law's absence.
“I definitely want to see my brother," Bepo said after a long silence. “It’s fun living here with everyone and all, but sometimes I think of him. I wonder if he’s doing okay, or if something happened to him. That’s why I’ve continued studying navigation since I got here. I’m terrible at it, but I can finally draw maps. So I definitely want to set out to find my brother some day, I think.”
This is one of the reasons why Heart Pirates ventured into Grand Line, besides Law's motivation to fullfill Cora-san's wish. He actually made sure to fullfill Bepo's wish before his very own one!
And finally, to answer your second question in the ask: does Law love his Heart Pirates as much as he loves Cora-san? I will allow Law to speak for himself, quoting the novel:
What was Cora-san for me? We had no blood relationship, and we didn't even know each other that long. Yet somehow, we were family. A love that could be felt without even putting it into words. I was wondering if I could love someone like that again. If I stay with Junk-ya and the bear, can I come to love them? Or will it continue to be a give and take relationship, as the old man says, where we just use each other?
After Wolf signed his name, we all followed suit. Seeing all our names next to each other on the paper, it’s strange. It is almost like we were a family.
Actually, we all looked happy, myself included. This place is definitely irreplaceable to me, I realized once again.
I can’t keep looking backwards; I have to move forward. Together with the happiness of being with friends, no matter how much I waver.
I found some salted fish that was on sale, so I bought it. In my head popped the pleasantly surprised faces of Bepo and the old man, and the expressions I imagined soon became my own.
Two months have flown by since the five of us started this life together. Eating meals, bathing, thinking of games to play, and bullshitting together under the same roof. It's the type of life I had never experienced until now.
But I have friends now—I have people who can allow me to forget the pain and the rage by distracting me with stupid things. That’s all I need.
And in case you wonder how did Law ask them to become a pirate crew together, here you go:
“I'll be leaving the island in a week. What do you want to do?” I ask them the question, trying to stay as natural as possible. “I will not force you to do anything. You can very well continue to lead the same life, to eat with the old man by exchanging jokes and get on with your job in town. Only, if… if you ever… wanted to come, then… that… that would help me a lot.”
(and after they all enthusiasthically agree:)
“Alright, I know I can count on you. That's all I'm saying.”
And from that moment on, Law gives them a name: Heart Pirates. Because they're a crew that belongs to Law, but also to Cora-san, and that's the meaning behind the name. If Cora-san lived, Hearts would be *his* crew as well. In some alternative reality, they could all be happy together sailing the seas.
So I guess, my final answer is: Law loves them because he found friends in them, his new family, and he wished he could share this happiness with Cora-san as well. I doubt there are many people out there who would get that privileage! Heart Pirates are definitely irreplaceable to him.

Note
Tbh I'm with Zoro re:Nika v Luffy. Luffy is full of love for the world and adventure, almost as much as he loves his friends. Nika willingly staying separate from the world Luffy adores so much is a HUGE red flag that It's No Longer Luffy In The Driver's Seat. They're probably very, very similar, but would it be enough for the Straw Hats? I imagine it would be for some of them, but besides King of Hell over there I think Jimbei and maybe Brook would notice the difference and care.
I’m assuming this is for the madoka magica au. (My beloved)
And you’re completely right.
Luffy under normal circumstances would never leave the crew. He loves them and the world and adventure, why would he ever leave? He doesn’t remember the situation that lead to him fully becoming Nika in the first place so he doesn’t understand Nika’s incessant calling to leave this world behind.
As for the rest of the crew….
When Zoro fully became Asura and rewrote the universe, he also took the crew’s memories of the world without Luffy.
They have no clue the current reality is different. There are moments where awareness slips in. Where they go “something here isn’t right?” But they are all together and happy so it’s not that big of a deal. The moments are easy enough to sweep under the rug.
I think if any of the crew did remember the reality without Luffy they would agree with Zoro’s decision. They don’t know that Nika had made a plain of existence just for them. That they would reunite with Nika after death. For them Luffy was gone and he was eternally alone. They would agree with Zoro’s decision because of the information they had.
Jimbei and Brook probably have more “this isn’t right” moments than the others because they have been around longer. Their age and experience tipping them off more. Robin probably realizes it as well but I wouldn’t put it past her to put all the pieces together and agree with Zoro’s actions. The crew was willing to fight the world government for her, she to would rip apart reality for her captain.
No the problem is Ace
Ace who remembers it all. Zoro tries to block it out but Ace was in Nika’s divine realm. He was privy to information the Strawhats didn’t have. He knew that they would all be together for eternity. And Zoro separating Luffy from Nika could have major consequences.
Ace pulls Zoro a side to tell him this. But it’s Ace and Zoro and they aren’t the best at communicating.
And Ace is also so conflicted because on the one hand Zoro not only divided Luffy’s soul but he also took Luffy’s freedom. It’s a beautiful cage but a gilded cage is still a cage. It was Luffy’s choice to merge with Nika. Zoro is disregarding Luffy’s choice and freedom.
But at the same time how can he be mad. He has both of his brothers back and they are all free, as far as the other two know. Because Luffy has no clue he’s in a cage. He’s completely free to do whatever he wants in this plain of existence. Is it truly freedom if he can’t leave? But is he truly trapped if he doesn’t know about the cage?
Ace’s head hurts. Philosophy was never his thing and he desperately wishes Sabo, Deuce, or Marco were in his place because while Sabo is here he doesn’t remember the old reality either.
So Ace confronts Zoro about it. About how this is going against Luffy’s will. About how this could have consequences they don’t even understand yet.
And Zoro just smirks at him and asks if it’s not a demons job to go against their god?
Ace is immediately on the defensive wanting to know if Zoro will completely disregard Luffy’s wants and decisions from here on out.
Zoro responds with “of course not. He is my captain and I his first mate.” He would do anything Luffy asked him for. But Luffy would never ask him to release him. How could he when Zoro stand between Luffy and anything that could ever make him want to leave again.
Ace threatens to tell Luffy the truth. To which Zoro tells him if he does then that would make them enemies. But he’s not to worried because he knows Ace is having trouble remembering things. He might have failed to fully block Ace’s memories in the first place but the more time Ace spends in this world the more natural it will be. After all this is a new chance for Ace to be human. To be with his brothers. He wouldn’t want to mess that up, would he?
Ace knows all these things. Can feel the memories of before getting hazier. He knows his brothers are happy here and there is no reality where he would try to take their happiness from them. But Luffy’s freedom was taken from him and that he can’t forgive “even if I forget everything else I will always remember that you, Roronoa Zoro, are a demon.”
Zoro just smiles at him and starts to walk back to the others. As he passes Ace he pauses and leaves the freckled man with one final thought. “We should pretend to be on good terms. If you’re always attacking me, Luffy could end up hating you.”
It’s an empty threat, Zoro knows. Knows that Luffy could never hate Ace. But seeing the two of them fighting nonstop would upset Luffy. Zoro has no desire to fight Ace, as long as he stays in line. And he knows exactly what will keep Ace in line.
Because Ace is having a full meltdown down. Could Luffy hate him? He’s in the right! Zoro took Luffy’s freedom. Zoro cut Luffy’s soul in half. Is it wrong for Ace to want to restore Luffy’s soul? To bring back the divine plain? But Luffy loves his crew and adventure. Is his brother better off in this world where he can go on adventures forever with his loved ones. Where he’s not the only one responsible for the safety of the world? Would Luffy hate him for breaking this reality? For fighting with Zoro?
Could Ace survive without Luffy’s love?
It’s a moot point. Luffy will always love Ace. But Ace’s self hate has never been able to understand that.
Here’s the original scene from Madoka Magica for reference
Note. They are both right in their own way. They have different points of view and information the other doesn’t.
Zoro wants Luffy to be with the crew because Luffy hates being alone more than anything. And the crew loves him. Zoro loves him
Ace has knowledge of Nika’s true plan. Knows that Luffy wasn’t going to be alone forever. It would just take time. But he’s horrible at sharing this information.
Ace going to the literal devil who just rewrote the universe to have his way and standing in front of him like “you I have a problem with you and I’m going to fight you.” Like poor boy has a split devil fruit (now shared with Sabo) that’s not even awakened and is staring down the King of hell with no plan or back up. Keep bitting off more then you can chew Ace. Never change.

Our All Blue
Gn!reader x Sanji
Just a soft moment between you and the resident Strawhat cook
Cw: nothing that I can think of, but if you find anything please let me know!
The sun was beating down on the Thousand Sunny harder than it had in a while, and the entire crew was feeling the effects. Even Luffy, who could normally be found giggling and running around the ship, was practically deflated on the bow of the ship. Some members of the ship were fairing somewhat better than others, whether it be by pushing through it and training, or just being used to the heat.
“SANJIIII,” Luffy loudly whines out, trying to draw the cook’s attention away from the dinner he was currently working on. “Can’t you make something to cool down with?”
The blonde man peeks his head out of the kitchen and yells out, “Sure! I’ll have some refreshments ready in just a moment!” And true to his word, he practically twirls out of the kitchen’s door with two trays of drinks, passing them out to each person he passes. With one drink left, Sanji goes searching for the one person he hasn’t been able to find. Finally, he’s able to track down (Y/n) sitting in the aquarium staring up at all the different kinds of fish.
“A nice, cold drink for my favorite person. I was even able to sneak you some of the fruit from the kitchen without Luffy noticing.” Sanji places down a delightfully blue drink and a small bowl of assorted fruit next to one of the newest members of the crew, who smiles brightly back up at him.
“Thanks, Sanji!” (Y/n) picks up their drink and take a sip. A calm smile overtakes their face as they taste the wonderful, fruity flavors with the subtle notes of mint which would help anyone be refreshed by a single sip. “Awesome, as per usual. This was really needed on a day like this.” They look back at the tank of colorful fish before them, and the blonde sits to the left of them, close enough to brush against their shoulder, and so their right arm still had access to the treat.
“I know I’ve already sat down, but may I join you?” He sneaks a peak down at them, and they glance up at him with a smile and a barely visible warmth to (Y/n)’s face. They quickly nod and bring their attention back to the aquarium.
After a few minutes had passed, (Y/n) jumps, having realized Sanji had probably paused making dinner to make the crew drinks and to spend time with them, Oh, what about dinner?”
A chuckle escapes him as he shakes his head, leaning against them a bit more fully, “Don’t worry about it. I was nearly done when our dear captain requested something to cool him off. All that needs to be done is for it to be seared and then served. Besides, I’d like to spend some time with you.”
“Oh. Oh! Um.. ok!” (Y/n) relaxes against him, and Sanji simply wraps an arm around their waist. As the room is filled with nothing but the sound of the water filtration and the waves from the outside ship, any previous awkwardness quickly fades from the room.
“You know… we may be far from finding the All Blue, but I think this may be a decent placeholder. Right, Sanji?” (Y/n) looks up at the man, who looks down at them as if the elusive ocean can be found in their eyes alone.
“I think you’re right, amore. I think this is our own All Blue.”

Previous Chapter.
Tumblr media
The bartender's smile faltered slightly, a flash of something unreadable passing through his eyes. His overly enthusiastic demeanor shifted to something more reserved, perhaps even slightly annoyed. "Of course," he said, forcing a chuckle as he turned away to attend to other customers.
Ace stood there for a moment, watching the bartender’s retreating figure before finally turning his gaze back to me.
"What was that about?" I asked, gesturing to the empty glass in his hand. "I didn’t like the way he was looking at you.”
"Great! To be honest i had enough. I'm going back to the ship," I sighed.
"Fine, I'll go with you. Just in case that guy decides to come back," Ace declared.
"I can go alone, Ace. I don't need a babysitter," I replied clearly annoyed as I got up from the chair.
As I reached the exit, I saw out of the corner of my eye how the bartender smiled at my presence. He was kind of cute.
-------------------------------------------------------------
I was walking through the lively streets of the city, heading toward the ship, when I heard footsteps behind me. I turned, ready to fight if necessary. Ace, with his characteristic cocky smile, was looking at me from behind.
"Get lost, Ace," I said as I continued on my way.
"I can't let anything happen to Marco's cute little sister," he responded as he approached me. "Besides, you're the one who crossed my path. I was just heading to the ship to... get something."
I rolled my eyes and kept walking. We both remained silent until we reached my cabin. I was about to open the door, but Ace was still behind me.
"What's wrong? Do you want to sleep with Marco?" I asked Ace as he looked at me with a smile on his face—he was drunk. "Maybe you two can sleep together, in the same bed and everything. I'm sure he'd love the idea."
Ace placed an arm on the doorframe, right next to my face, and getting closer than I’d like (though I really did like it), he said, "You can stay in your room with Marco and his snoring... or you can come with me. You won't regret it." He said while caressing my cheek with his other hand.
I have to admit, Ace's proposal was too tempting, but I didn't want to complicate things. I had just joined this crew, and I didn't want things to get awkward because of one night.
"Maybe another time," I responded as I opened the door and walk in as fast as i could to escape the situation.
Ace's hands grabbed my waist from both sides. His large, strong hands held my entire body. "My room is at the end of the hallway. If you ever need anything, you know where to find me. You... can come whenever you want," he whispered in my ear, just loud enough for me to hear. "Well, I'm heading back to the bar," he continued as if nothing had happened. "The party will fall apart without me." And with that he desapeared.
I entered the room, still in shock from everything that had just happened—the party, the bartender, a smiling Deuce, and Ace...
Marco lay peacefully snoring on the other side of the room.
"So, in the end, it really is Marco, me and his snoring..." I thought to myself.
I fell asleep surprisingly quickly, my dreams filled with all the events of that night. Suddenly, I woke up. Noises and voices could be heard in the distance until silence once again reigned in the rooms.
"ACE!!!" A moan echoed through the hallway.
Was it my imagination? No. The moans, coming from a voice that was unfamiliar to me, continued.
Ugh, had Ace brought someone back? After everything he had said to me? I couldn't believe it. It was just another one of his games. But, to be honest, I'd rather listen to Marco's snoring than someone screaming Ace's name.
--------------------------------------------------------------
I woke up the next morning, remembering what had happened, and my stomach twisted.
I got dressed and headed to the dining hall. Most of the crew was there, eating and talking about the previous night. Among the crowd, I spotted Ace with Marco, Tatch, and... next to him, a blonde girl I had never seen before. At that moment, I started connecting all the dots. He probably went back to the bar and brought someone along, one of the many who were more than ready and willing to go with him to the ends of the earth.
As I approached the dining area, I could feel my heart sinking. The sight of Ace laughing and chatting with the blonde girl felt like a punch to the gut. It was silly, I told myself. I had no claim on him, and it wasn't like he had promised me anything. Still, the way he had spoken to me last night, the way his hands had lingered on my waist, had made me believe, even for just a moment, that I was special to him.
I shook my head, trying to clear the thoughts as I entered the room. The din of the crew's chatter filled the air, but my focus was squarely on Ace. He hadn't noticed me yet, too engrossed in his conversation. I hesitated, unsure if I should approach or just slip away unnoticed. Before I could make a decision, Marco spotted me and waved me over.
"Morning," Marco greeted with a warm smile, oblivious to the turmoil inside me. "How'd you sleep?"
"Fine," I lied, forcing a smile. My eyes flickered to Ace, who was now looking directly at me. There was something unreadable in his gaze, a flicker of recognition, perhaps even guilt, but it was gone as quickly as it appeared.
"Join us," Marco offered, pulling out a chair next to him. I hesitated for a moment, but refusing would have seemed odd, so I took a seat, trying to ignore the blonde sitting across from me.
"So, did you enjoy the party last night?" Tatch asked, leaning forward with a grin.
"Yeah, it was... interesting," I replied, my tone more flat than I'd intended. I could feel Ace's eyes on me, but I refused to meet his gaze. Instead, I focused on the plate in front of me, pushing around the food with my fork.
"Interesting, huh?" Marco chuckled, but his eyes narrowed slightly as if sensing something was off. He was always perceptive, too much for his own good.
"Yeah, you know how these things are," I replied with a shrug, trying to play it cool. I was about to take a bite when I heard a laugh, bright and carefree, coming from the blonde. She leaned closer to Ace, touching his arm as she spoke, and I felt my stomach twist again.
I finished breakfast as quickly as I could, eager to escape the dining hall. I got up and said my goodbyes, feeling the curious eyes of my crewmates on me, and headed to the library. If I wanted to be a good doctor, I had better start studying.
When I arrived at the library, I found Deuce sitting at one of the tables, reading a book. "Didn't expect to see anyone in the library," he said without looking up from his book.
"Someone once told me this was a good place if you don’t want to talk to anyone... or if you wanted to hide..." We exchanged a knowing smile.
I spent the day in the library, talking with Deuce about medicine, sharing books, and exchanging small tips. Marco even stopped by for a few hours, giving us a lesson on how to use certain plants to treat deep wounds.
The sun was just about to set on the horizon. Kotatsu and I were cuddled by the window, watching the sunset when someone gently touched my shoulder.
"Y/n..." Izou's voice pulled me out of my trance.
I turned around, greeting him with a big smile.
"A guy came by looking for you..." Izou's calm but intrigued tone surprised me; there was a hint of uncertainty in his gaze.
"Who?" I asked, surprised.
"Tall, blonde... says you met yesterday at the bar..." he said thoughtfully. "I told him to wait on the deck until you got there."
"Alright, I'll change and go." I wasn't too convinced about seeing that guy again; there was something about him that didn't sit right with me. Plus, in my situation, I couldn't trust anyone, but maybe this was a good way to show Ace that I didn't care about what he had done and that I could move on.
---------------------------------------------------------
Ace was leaning against the ship's railing, staring out at the horizon with the sea breeze tousling his hair. His mind was elsewhere, replaying the events of the previous night over and over again. He could still feel the warmth of your hips under his hands and the frustration of letting you go. But despite his words and actions, Ace wasn’t the type to push someone, especially not you, Marco's sister.
The sound of footsteps on the deck pulled him from his thoughts. In the distance, he saw Izou walking toward him with his usual carefree demeanor, but there was something in Izou's expression that caught Ace's attention. As Izou approached, he gestured toward the other end of the deck, where the bartender from the previous night was waiting, clearly uncomfortable under the curious stares of some of the crew.
"He says he's here to see Y/n. That they met last night," Izou explained, his tone laced with distrust.
Ace felt a knot form in his stomach. He didn’t like the sound of this. "I’ll handle it," Ace said, straightening up. As he walked toward the intruder, he sensed the familiar presence of Deuce following him. "Don’t do anything stupid, Ace."
The blonde looked up as they approached, his posture tense despite his attempt to appear relaxed. Ace noticed Deuce's eyes fixed on the man with his usual cold, analytical gaze.
"What are you doing here?" Ace asked, his voice sounding harsher than he intended.
The blonde smirked. "I just came to see if she wanted to hang out, since we got interrupted last night. Clearly, she wanted to keep talking to me."
Ace let out a dry laugh. "Oh, really? Funny, she didn’t mention anything about that."
The man looked confused for a moment, but then quickly regained his composure, trying to maintain his confidence. "Maybe she forgot to mention it. I left her a note saying I'd come to see her today."
Ace felt his patience slipping. He took a step forward, but before he could do anything, Deuce grabbed his arm. "You should leave. I don’t think she wants to see you," Deuce said, trying to defuse the situation.
At that precise moment, a voice interrupted the heated conversation from behind them. "Deuce?… Ace? What’s going on here?" Deuce and Ace froze at the sound of my voice.
"Nothing, this guy was just leaving," Deuce responded.
I stepped in front of them and walked toward the bartender. "I heard you were looking for me. We should go somewhere… quieter."
I walked across the deck toward the gangplank leading to the port, with the bartender following behind me.
"My name’s Pete, by the way," the guy said as soon as we stepped onto the port.
"I’m Y/n."
"Your friends are… charming," he said with irony.
"They’re just concerned… I think."
We walked through the port until we reached a small hill with a lookout point. Pete and I sat down, and for most the night, we talked about everything and nothing. The conversation flowed so naturally that it felt like I’d known him all my life. Of course, I had to invent my entire life story. There came a point in the night where I felt like I might be able to trust him, but something deep inside me told me not to. Besides, my thoughts kept returning to Ace.
Under the intense light of the crescent moon, Pete suddenly lunged at me, trying to kiss me. But almost instinctively, I dodged him. The truth was that even though I liked him, I couldn’t stop thinking about Ace.
Seeing my reaction, Pete leaned in close to my ear. "What’s wrong, don’t you want to?" he asked, grabbing my hands with one of his.
The sound of a chain made me go on high alert. I pulled away from Pete just enough to see that he was holding a huge chain in his other hand. The guy's face twisted into a malicious grin as he tightened his grip on my hands and tried to wrap the chain around them.
I quickly yanked my hands free with force, kicking him in the stomach, which made him release me so I could escape.
"I didn’t think it’d be this easy to catch you. You know... you should listen to your friends more often," he said as he pulled out a large whip.
I quickly turned around, ready to run, when the large rope coiled around my neck. Sea Stone. The damn chain was made of Sea Stone.
He yanked the chain back, causing me to fall to the ground, and then struck my back with the whip. It was hard to breathe, and the strong lash had left me trembling on the ground. "Who are you?" I managed to stammer.
"CP-0," he replied coldly.
Damn it, I couldn’t let them capture me, not now. I had to fight, do whatever it took; I’d rather die than go back to Mary Geoise.
I got up as quickly as I could, considering the Sea Stone chain was draining my energy. I ran towards the guy to make the chain less taut so I could remove it. He hadn’t expected this, and not understanding why I was running in his direction, he froze. I took advantage of this and reached for my neck, trying to untie the chain. In response, he lashed out at my hands again.
For long minutes, the guy swung his whip wherever my body moved, and I tried to dodge it—sometimes successfully, sometimes not. Seeing this, he threw the whip aside and proceeded to do the same with the chain. The guy's strength surprised me as I saw how he lifted the chain with moderate ease while trying to strike me with it. Since the chain was heavier and longer, each movement he made with it was slow but devastating if it hit me. Exhaustion was starting to take its toll on me; it was becoming harder and harder to dodge the blows, and the Sea-Prism Stone chain was still draining my energy. But desperation and the will to survive kept me moving.
As I dodged another attack, I saw an opportunity. The chain had hit the ground with such force that it created a small dent, but more importantly, it exposed an end of the chain that had not yet been lifted. If I could grab that end, maybe I could gain some advantage.
With a cry of effort, I lunged for the chain, grabbing the loose end tightly. Pete, surprised by my action, tried to regain control, but before he could, I wrapped the end of the chain around a nearby post. The weight of the chain did the rest, pulling Pete sharply to one side and throwing him off balance.
I took advantage of his confusion to run, though I could barely stay on my feet. The pain in my back and hands was unbearable, but I knew stopping wasn’t an option. I couldn’t let him catch me again.
"You can’t run, Y/n! CP-0 always gets what it wants!" Pete shouted, trying to free himself from the chain, but I was already focused on finding a way out.
I knew I couldn’t go back to the ship directly; Pete could catch up to me before I got there. Instead, I decided to run toward a group of nearby buildings, hoping to lose him in the narrow streets and alleys. My breathing was erratic, and every step felt like a challenge, but adrenaline and fear pushed me forward.
I entered one of the alleys and hid behind some barrels, trying to catch my breath and calm my furious heartbeat. I heard Pete's footsteps approaching, and I held my breath. I knew that if he found me now, it would be over.
"Do you really think you can hide from me?" His voice echoed through the streets, and the sound of the chain dragging on the ground sent a chill down my spine.
If I could distract him long enough, I might be able to get back to the ship and warn the others. I needed to make noise in one direction and then slip away in the other. I looked around and saw a pile of small stones near the barrels. It was a risky plan, but I had no other choice.
With as much stealth as I could muster, I grabbed a few stones and threw them toward the other end of the alley. The noise made Pete spin sharply toward the sound, giving me the chance to slip away in the opposite direction. I delivered a solid punch that knocked him to the ground.
I ran again, ignoring the pain in my body, and managed to reach another street before Pete could react. I felt a surge of relief, but I knew I wasn’t safe yet. I had to get back to the ship, I had to warn the others about CP-0.
The deck of the Moby Dick was silent. Most of the crew was asleep. I made it to the hallway, where I stumbled and fell to the ground, making a loud noise.
"Y/N?" Izou came out of his room. "What happened?"
Because of the commotion and our voices, a few other commanders came out of their rooms. Among them was Ace, who was furious at the scene.
"I knew it. It was that stupid bartender, wasn’t it?" he said, walking down the hallway toward the exit.
"Let's get her to the infirmary. Jozu, wake up Marco," Izou said quickly. "Ace… where are you going now?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.
"I´m going to kill him."
Vista made a move, triying to stop him, while the others tell him to wait, to think clearly....but he kept going and disappeared into the dark.
"He's with CP-0; he came to capture me," I managed to say with my last breath.
"Let him go… maybe it's for the best. As soon as Ace returns, we leave; this will give us an advantage to disappear before they alert anyone else," I heard Izou say before I passed out.
I woke up with a start. Nightmares had haunted me all night. Pete… Saint Roswaald, and everything I had experienced until now, had played out step by step in my dreams. I woke up dazed in the infirmary bed, not really knowing where I was. I felt helpless and alone, very alone.
Staggering, I dragged myself to my room, hoping to find Marco there, but when I opened the door, the room was empty.
"He’s with Pops." A voice came from behind. Ace.
I turned around, and the look of terror and tears on my face made his expression change completely to tenderness.
"I… uh… I need to find him," I managed to stammer.
"I think you need to sleep."
Ace had traces of blood and scratches on his face. Then the image of Pete flashed back into my mind and I could feel my eyes starting to get wet.
"I don’t think that guy will bother you again, besides, we’re already at sea—it’ll be hard for them to find us." He was getting closer and closer to me.
My heart was racing more and more—Pete, CP-0… everything was spinning in my head, and a ringing began to fill my ears.
"Y/N?… Y/N!!!" Ace repeated as I fainted.
Flashes came to my mind as Ace was carrying me in his arms. When I opened them once more, I was in a bed, in a room I had never seen before, though it was very similar to mine, only with a huge bed. I sat up a bit, and I heard a small groan. Ace was sleeping soundly on one side of the bed, next to me, though leaving enough space so that our bodies would never have to touch. My stomach fluttered, full of butterflies and nervousness at Ace’s presence. Though I wasn’t sure how I had ended up there, I decided to close my eyes and rest.

Jaw dropped‼️‼️ on the floor‼️‼️‼️
currently on episode 725 of one piece and omg there is so much I have to say❗️
Timeskip: Okay- for the most part I love everyone’s Timeskip designs and I adored seeing perona, mihawk, and Zoro BUT I HATE HATE HATE HATE. That the white washed So many of the crew Robin, Ussopp, and I think Zoro too are much paler. Sure their outfit and hair are nice but not worth the change of skin tone :/ plus Robin would look so much better in her older skin tone cause she honestly slays. On another note Luffy with the disguise was silly
Jimbei/Fishman Island: LOVE LOVE LOVE JIMBEI AND HIS DYNAMIC WITH LUFFY 😭😭😭 And Luffy casually coming back after two years and choosing to fight in a civil war and then declare war against an emperor is ✨Iconic✨ I loved the princess too and I think the way luffy was just so ‘I don’t like you :/‘ was funny, additionally Luffy just riding a kraken and reeking havoc is amazing. Also everyone’s new abilities specifically chopper and Franky’s are super neat!! In short Jimbei is peak, luffy is slay, and I love them
Law: He deserves his own tangent ✋😔 BRO OMGOGMGOGMGOMGGKMG SO SILLY‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️ So cool and neat and his abilities amazing- incredible- love it! Erm- his past? Not very girlboss. I was and still am hurt from it. Corazon had so much silly potential and their dynamic had me sobbing they are so sweet and are my everything‼️‼️‼️ and doflamingo we don’t like him here!! Stand w/ law‼️‼️ additionally speaking his dressrosa disguise with the moustache whilst drinking tea? Iconic.
Dressrosa/Punk Hazard: Punk Hazard, kinda boring besides the lore behind the island that was cool! :D I think it was a good intro to the grand line, and gave a better grasp as to how strong everyone really has gotten. It additionally I think gave us an even better insight then we already have into Choppers character and I enjoyed that!! Dressrosa I’m almost finished at the time of this post and I have to say it’s amazing, from the backstories (Law and Rebecca 😭😭😭) to the revolutionary army, marine admiral, disguises and everything in between its just amazing, and 4th gear‼️‼️‼️‼️ ALSO the fighting coliseum was my favourite cause it reminded me of Pokémon and we got to see Sabo and he’s my favourite 🥺👉👈
Also the scene between Franky and Luffy where Luffy just looks up at Franky practically begging to enter for the devil fruit is so— omgogmgogmgomg it shows just how understanding the strawhats are of each others feelings and are willing to empathize with each other and go through anything for one another. It also gave somewhat of a look into how the straw hats seem to be very fragile around the topic of Ace for Luffy and are willing to do whatever to try and help him recover from that situation no matter the cost (if you couldn’t tell the strawhats dynamic is very important to me)
Sabo: Again same as law deserving of his own rant. OGMGOGMGOGMGOGJGHSUSHCJSIISDB AHHHHHHH I LOVE HIM SO SOSOSOSOOSOSOSOSOSO MUCH HES SO SILLY AND HIM AND LUFFY HAVE ME SO HAPPY 😭😭😭 He is so girl boss. Not only is he second in command to A REVOLUTIONARY ARMY‼️‼️ he’s also AN ARSONIST‼️‼️ FIGHTS WITH A PIPE‼️‼️AND HAS A TOP HAT WITH SILLY GOGGLES‼️⁉️ GIRLBOSS WHO⁉️ SLAY WHO⁉️⁉️ Anyways- His character design is actually peak the fight between him and the admiral as well as in the coliseum are amazing even if just glimpses I find them Intriguing. His fighting style is similar to the past too and it makes me sad. BUT THE PART IN THE INTOR WITH HIM AND THE FIRE WITH ACE IN THE BACKGROUND‼️‼️‼️ WHAT⁉️ UFHHHFKISB I CANNOT ✋😭 any who I am not normal about this guy he is my favourite silly and I hold him close to my heart

One piece x TFRB (you can add the TFP kids if u want)
Since I already say that Cody had a bad first encounter with the Marines, and the fact that slowly Cody (Frankie and Priscilla) are getting more atention with their bounties, and the fact that they are part of some of the most dangerous pirates.
Do you think that maybe the Marines would "think" on what they did and take the kids out of the pirates hands?? If Marines like Koby could try and talk to them so the kids come to "safety"?
But then Cody tells him that a man with magma powers hurt him and wanted to take little Griffin away, how would the Marines react to that?? I guess that it will depend if they are good or bad Marines...
hi
The thing is that a majority of Marines are sort of already conditioned or are just in the unfortunate position to obey any order given by the World Goverment, the same one that gave Nico Robin a 79,000,000 at just age 8. While some could think it's tragic most would just guess that there must have been a good reason for it especially for the governments habit of propaganda.
So must Marines who encountered the kids would assume there members of the crew and try to capture them. Maybe underestimating them at first as easy arrest.
For the few Marines that would be worried for the kids it depend on the crew they were with.
Any Marines who really knew the Strawhats, like Koby, Smoker, Tashigi, Garp, and even Aokiji wouldn't be that worried. Despite being pirates the Strawhats aren't a threat to anyone other than those that choose to attack them. Besides probably one of the safest places for a person wanted by the World Goverment would be with them, look at Robin for example. But they would recommend that any kids they have perhaps settle somewhere safe to avoid being seen as even bigger threats to the World Goverment.
Law would be another story, one that depends if he's still a warlord, most of the Marines don't trust him but would respect that him and members of his crew "officially" worked with the Navy. But after Laws netrayal that would change and everyone on Laws crew would be honsidered a criminal. Pricsilla would also be viewed as a threat on how deadly her Devil Fruit Powers could be.
As for Kid, given how Kid and his crew already have a reputation of destroying most Marine vessels and having a pretty high casualties count of both Marines and civilians, anyone if the crew would have been seen as an immediate threat even if they were kids. Especially if it was seen that Cody (who was probably ordered too) attacked a Marine ship.
So yeah while most Marines would feel a little bad that kids were parts of pirate crews they still see it as there duty to try to bring them in. And about rescuing them its unlikely ether, lots of kids or young people join pirate crews at different ages like the Donquixote Pirates, the Kuja Pirates, even Roger let Shanks and Buggy join when they were age 9.
It's an unfortunate truth.
As if Koby heard about this he be confused at why Luffy has a kid on his crew but not worried, Law and Kid be another story and something he feel sorry for.
As for if he meets Kody and finds out about Akainu.
If most Marines found out Akainu attacked Cody they feel a little bad but not enough to go against him, to go against Akainu who is the current Fleet Admiral is practically a death sentence given that the man has killed Marines for disobey him and nearly killed Koby himself.
So yeah Koby isn't a fan.
Koby meeting Cody and finding our about his trauma with Akinue would apologize, the Marines are supposed to protect people and he's sorry that there are parts of the organization that don't live up to that. He might even try to offer Cody an escape or a chance to get away from Kid so he could be taken to a safe island or village to set up a new life there. Something he offer to Frankie and Priscilla
Though it's doubtful the kids would take him up on it, given that being out on sea is the best chance at finding the phenomenon that sent them there.
Also Cody would be still maybe a little mistrustful of Marines. It was a real shock to him what happened, all his life, he was taught to go to law enforcement if he was ever in any trouble.
That they would help him.
It was the case at first with the first Marines he met, treating him kindly and prepared to help him. Only to turn cold and aggressive when given orders by there supervisors to apprehend him.
Cody really goes through a lot in this AU.

Random rant about OPLA
(Keep in mind I’m an anime watcher only, currently on Thriller Bark arc)
I don’t understand how everyone and their mom, from manga readers to anime watchers and first time viewers, seem to agree that OPLA is fucking amazing, I really don’t like it that much??? I just watched ep 4 and I just think none of the motivations for any of the characters are ever layed out properly? And their core elements aren’t defined and explicit at all. Like when Usopp said he wouldn’t run away anymore. When was it ever shown that he had been running away from things all his life? The only moment when he ran away from danger to save himself was when Klahador attacked him in the basement. It is also barely shown that he is constantly lying about pirates coming to the city before he had to warn everyone about the pirates in Kaya’s house. there’s just a flashback to when he was a kid and that’s IT. He also barely had any importance in the whole “arc”, the only thing he did was shoot Klahador once in the last fight (and that single shot made Luffy think he’s an amazing rifleman??) He had almost no meaningful interactions with the rest of the crew to warrant Luffy inviting him to come along with them. Imma just list other things that I didn’t like and are annoying me:
When the crew was captured by Buggy and Luffy said “not everything has to be solved with a fight” HE WOULD NOT FUCKING SAY THAT??? He beats the shit out of anyone that dares hurt his friends or gets in his way (in a playful way ofc, he’s Brazilian and I am too, Luffy speaks to me on a spiritual level)
Zoro talks like he’s been dead for a week all the time, not a single emotion come through in his voice, I know he’s serious and mysterious but he’s also playful and a little bit silly from time to time, and besides a few jokes and snarky comebacks at Nami, that has not been shown at all up until now
I’m probably being extremely nitpicky cuz obviously the LA has a lot less time to flesh out the characters than the anime and manga did, but what I really don’t get is how EVERY SINGLE PERSON IN THE INTERNET is saying that it is THE perfect adaptation of Oda’s vision in the manga???? I expected the insane OP fans to notice these things too but I haven’t seen a single negative comment about the LA. Anyways. I haven’t watched all of it yet and there’s still a loooot to come in future seasons so it could improve later. Also most of my complaints can be resolved when the strawhats become closer ig

OMG THANK YOU FOR THE ACE SCETCH SM I LOVE IT HE LOOKS AMAZING<33333 I WILL FOREVER LOVE THAT YOU SPENT YOUR SPECIAL TIME TO MAKE THIS AHHH I LOVE YOU SM, YOU ARE 100%. MY FAVORITE TUMBLR ARTIST
I also saw your Usopp and Nami post, now I don’t personally ship it because I love Usopps dedication to Kaya and Nami is kinda lesbian coded but their friendship is the best I love them they’re my favorite friendship in OP
I do have a few questions
1.Who’s your favorite admiral?
2.who’s your favorite pirate crew? (Strawhats, whitebeard, Gol D Roger, etc, Mine is the whitebeard pirates)
3.what arc are you on?
4.do you have a favorite marine/past marine (my favorite current Marine is Koby I love him sm my favorite past marine is Corazon/Rosinate my love<3)
5. Who’s your favorite female character? (Mine is boa aka my wife🫶, tho I was said if I was a straw hat I’d be Nami🤭)
💖💖💖🥺 you'll make me cry...
Agree about Nami and Usopp! It just happened to be a side-pairing that really made me look at their friendship, and I appreciated that ✨ But yes, Nami and Vivi is a very cute ship too 👀 Def prefer her as a lesbian, and Nami&Zoro gay friendship is the greatest 👌👌
Hard to say, probably Aokiji because I'm basic and the others scare me.
Besides the Strawhats I've grown to love the Heart Pirates, but I also really like Kidd 😅
I am caught up! Reading chapters as they are released. I watched the anime through Dressrosa and then I began reading the manga from that point.
Mmmm Smoker is kind of cool 👀 Koby is very sweet too tho
A bit unhappy with how Oda is treating several female characters, but Robin maybe? And Lola is kind of badass too

While he didn't have his crew sail such a far distance only to be turned away, Red Hair still couldn't help the smile. It was very clear that Law himself had a a loyal and cautious crew, and with how things were currently going after the mess at Marineford, he couldn't really blame them for being too cautious, either.
Now, there were two approaches he could take --- play along or be the big bad Emperor and demand to see their captain. The third option he'd rather avoid was simply using his Conqueror's Haki and knock them out before waltzing into the submarine like he owned the place, though Shanks couldn't be further from acting like that. He was a man who liked peace and peaceful negotiations and conversations whenever they were possible, not to mention that he simply wasn't that type of person.
He gave the two a small smile, holding up his hand to show that he had no ill intentions besides just a friendly visit and a conversation with Law if the young man would give him his time of the day.
"Word has it that he took care of Strawhat Luffy after the war at Marineford and saved his life. All I want to do is thank him for it."
Deterring tracking was definitely a reason he had opted to go with a submarine. And there tended to be less movement of the vessel beneath the waves than on them. Usually. And remaining below the sea was what he had intended to do for as long as possible after the conflict at Marineford- let the news cool off, raise his chances of not being immediately swarmed upon surfacing.
There was only so long supplies would last, however. (And only so long the crew could tolerate each other- even if they all got on decently well.) (There was just something about tight quarters that got people at each others' throats.)
A week had, perhaps, been a little too indulgent for a stay ashore. Not that he doubted any of the crew would appreciate it. It also didn't seem as if the Marines were looking too hard for them- who knew what that meant. Probably nothing good. Still, he'd take the peace while it lasted. Better than an unexpected conflict. Which might have been about to change, given the presence approaching his vessel-
Outside, last minute preparations were being finished- the last few crates of supplies in the process of being loaded. Coordination shouted among themselves, promises of activities for once they were done- until they were approached. Well. Shit. Shachi and Penguin glanced at each other, returned their attention to Shanks. "Why?" "Yeah, can't just have you walkin' in for no good reason."

Hi, I am currently rereading One Piece and posting notes about the chapters. Feel free to share your own thoughts.
WARNING: I'm caught up so there will be SPOILERS for future chapters and plot developments.
Volume 4 The Black Cat Pirates Chapter 32 Cruel Fortune [Syrup Village Arc]
So that is a dragon on the cover page. I don't think these creatures show up until at least Punk Hazard if we count Momo.
Claw effects on fighting panels from Butchie and Siam.
I like how Oda shows power dynamics among the strawhats. Usopp and Nami are not good at close combat and can become a vulnerability for others if they are not careful with their long range attacks. And that doesn't really change as the series goes on. Sure all strawhats get upgrades, but their opponents grow in power too and it's not like their own fighting style changes a lot. And I like that. It creates more tension during fights, makes it more diverse and interesting. And I'm not a fan of the opinion that every strawhat should be as capable in fighting as Zoro and Luffy. I think it's nice that they all have their own advantages and weak points. Even as the crew of an Emperor they still have other purpose and duties besides fighting. I guess I just dislike when people are quick to judge a character for being not as badass as they want.
Like here Nami can't really fight alongside Zoro, but she can risk her life and get the swords back to him. She is limited by her skills, but she is smart and fast enough to resolve the problem.

________________________________________
There was a heavy creek to the ship as it rocked you over the ocean, drifting you asleep in Zoro’s arms. However, he stayed restless during these nights with you; basking in your presence. It was very rare he got the chance to have you so calm in the presence of someone like him; someone who would usually strike fear through you.
You never did well with larger men; even if it was members of the crew. You stayed clear from as many of them as you could, clinging to the archeologist, navigator, and young doctor most of the time. It became usual for the crew to notice your behaviour, staying clear for the most part, all except moments with Zoro.
There was a part of you that was intrigued by him and his rugged beauty; starting a blossom of feelings towards him you didn’t quite understand. You both felt drawn to another, one drunken night starting a wonderful marriage of pleasure.
On nights you spent with him it was if you were a whole different person. You were relaxed and pliable in his hands as he rocked himself through you. Your lips pressed onto his skin, dragging sweet calls of his name that pulled at his heart strings. There wasn’t an inch of fear in your body; his strong arms holding you so gently to remind you that you were safe with him.
He was unbelievably and unbearably in love with everything about you; he just wished you understood his intentions.
He wished to love you more than between the sheets.
——————
Zoro opened his eye to the sound of your laughter, moving his head abruptly towards your voice. His eyes trailed up to look at your face, twisted so elegantly as you laughed alongside the doctor through the shrubs of herbs you were planting. It was mid afternoon, he thought, watching how the sun peppered your skin in a radiance that could only arise from the summer sky. It cascaded down the apples of your cheeks, over the bride of your nose, adding a warmth to your already flushed face. Dirt kissed your skin like freckles, making your skin vibrant, and he thought to himself in that moment he’d never seen anyone so beautiful.
The door of the kitchen creaked open, his eyes moving towards the long slender frame as Sanji walked out; a tray of drinks in his hand. He watched the cook turn towards you, moving towards where you sat, your back facing him.
An uncontrollable growl burned the back of his throat as you flinched, Sanji’s arm outstretched over you as he placed your drink down beside you. Sanji’s love-sick conversation was muted out in the rage that overflowed, watching your eyes glass over like an animal in the light; wishing to escape.
“Why don’t you leave her alone, shitty cook!” He barked out, not rising from his spot under the tangerine tree. All eyes turned to him but it was you he was most concerned about. The horror you held vanished into gratitude; thanking him for your release.
“Why don’t you mind your business, marimo!” Sanji shot back, the venom in his voice making you flinch once again.
This time he rose, storming to the railing to fire back at him again; the added height adding to his advance. “She doesn’t want to talk to you!”
“And how would you know what sweet (y/n)-swan is thinking?”
“Just take a look at her! She doesn’t want anything to do with you!”
“Shut up, moss head!” He turned to you, bending down to your level “that’s not true, is it?”
His hand went to your arm, holding you still, wishing to reassure you he wasn’t offending you in any way. However his plan backfired, your face going pale; eyes shutting tight not wishing to look at his frame over you.
Zoro quickly hurdled the railing, landing onto the deck with a large thud. He swiftly made a beeline towards you, yanking Sanji away from you as fast as he could. He slammed Sanji against the side of the ship, quickly drawing his sword to lunge at the cook. Sanji quickly dodged his attack, his foot striking down against him in a colossal thud; shaking the ship.
“Stop it!” Chopper called out, his small voice shrill to be heard above them; useless in their rage. “I said stop it! You’re scaring (y/n)!”
Both the boys looked over at you, their eyes watching your shaking frame, too stunned to say anything. You looked towards the floor, attempting to ground yourself, the fight flicking your fear responses into a state of panic.
“(Y/n)…” Zoro retreated his swords, kneeling down in front of you. You refused to look up at him, not wishing to see the rage etched on his beautifully tanned face. He would never wear that expression for you, but the remains of his bitterness hung over him like a poisonous snake.
“I’m sorry” his voice was low and sincere, “I didn’t mean to startle you”.
“I'm surprised you even know what that word means... you should’ve just left us alone…” Sanji piped up, quickly lighting a cigarette “she was safe with me”.
Zoro clenched his jaw, holding back what he wished to say, not wanting to upset you more than he already had. If he hadn’t seen your state of despair he would have ripped the cook into shreds by now; knowing he would never lay a hand on you again. But instead he was here, watching you frozen from actions he made in your presence.
“I can go and get Robin?” Chopper suggested, his small body moving away from you.
Zoro grunted in disapproval, giving the doctor a stern look. “No”.
“I could run you a bath?” he suggested, looking back over to you; his face softening. His heart hammered in his chest, rapidly trying to remember how the archeologist would care for you; hoping he could help instead. Your eyes gingerly flickered up to meet his face, nodding slightly, appreciating his efforts to calm you.
Relieved, he stood up, letting you rise at your own pace; not wishing to rush you. He looked over his shoulder at Sanji, raising a shit-eating grin at him in victory. Sanji ignored his childish remark, walking back into the kitchen, mumbling under his breath.
“I’ll, um, meet you up there” he mumbled, turning back to you. His eyes stayed focus on anything but you, too embarrassed to look at you directly; knowing he made such a bold request in front of people.
“Okay” your voice travelled low and mouse. He smiled weakly at the sound of your voice, finally looking up to see you; your eyes watching him lovingly.
He held himself back, wanting more than anything to hold you in that moment; to have your body cradled against him. He wanted to protect you. He needed to protect you.
Instead, he turned away from you, fisting his hands to stop from reaching out; carelessly heading up towards the bathroom.
——————
You knocked quietly on the door of the bathroom, a long silk robe tied around your body. You wrapped your arms around your chest, waiting patiently for Zoro to open the door. It had stunned you earlier; seeing Zoro’s attack while being so attentive to your anxiety. You were aware the bitterness him and the cook shared, so the fight didn’t surprise you. It did, however, raise past memories you wished to forget; turning their simple fight into a theatrical performance of remembrance.
The door creaked open slowly, leaving enough room for you to slip inside the darkness. You wedged your way in, not yet looking up at the man who let you in; basking in the warmth of the room. The lights were off, soft glow of candles lined the basin to your left, letting enough light in to see where everything was. You walked over to the bath, dipping your hand in to feel the temperature.
“Is it okay?” Zoro questioned.
“Yeah”
You turned around to face him finally, letting him approach you in timid steps. His eye fanned over your features as he stood over you; however you felt an ambience of calm with him. You were aware how he held you between the sheets, how gently he could be with you; knowing you were safe in this room with him.
His hand came up to your face slowly, tucking a loose strand of hair behind your ear. As his hand fell back down it glided over your shoulder, sliding down the robe off you. He leaned down to the patch of skin, his lips trailing up towards your neck; stippling gentle kisses. You moaned slightly, leaning into his touch, enjoying how his hands snaked around your waist; holding you to him.
His breath danced under your ear, panting heavily, holding back from wishing to take you there. He wanted to show you he wanted you more than just sex. He wanted to worship you.
You moved your head towards him, softly connecting your lips, your hands tangling into his shirt, pulling him in. You both moved against each other, feeling each slow pucker of your lips embrace each other’s taste. Your tongues stroked cautiously at each other; not wishing to pursue any form of hunger. Zoro held you against him with more vigour, his arms encapsulating you in a strong cradle. Although his actions were domineering, you felt at peace; melting into him. His hands cupped at your body, letting you feel enough resistance to break from him if you chose to. You eventually broke free from his lips, gasping for air, resting your forehead in the crook of his neck.
“Join me” you mumbled sheepishly, your hand tangling deeper into his shirt. He nodded, attempting to catch a breath of his own. “Okay”
He gently let go, moving away from your body, allowing you to turn around from him. You slowly stripped out of your clothing; heading into the bath before Zoro. He cautiously slid in behind you, letting you move at your own pace. Once situated behind you, his arms folded around your front, holding you still; his lips pressed to your head. He cupped at the water, dragging it over your stomach and chest, slowly making his way to your back. You leaned forward, doing the same to your legs, letting him immerse you in the warm water.
His eyes lingered on the scars over your back; long and raised. He had seen them many times before, and each time just as heartbreaking as the first. Bending down he kissed over you scars, sending shivers down your spine. Once blanketing your past in his lips he turned you around, gently sliding you up into his lap.
Your arms slid around his neck as he sat you down, holding you gently; his fingers tracing patterns on your back. Your head went back with a slight moan, his lips exploring your décolletage; alternating between soft bites and kisses like it was the first time tasting you. You shut your eyes, your hand threading into his hair, keeping him against your skin; relishing in his softness. A deep exhale shivered his skin, your body melting into his touch, ignoring his preparation to confess to you.
“I love you” he mumbled, his lips vibrating against your skin.
“Hmm?” You opened your eyes in shock, tugging his head up to you “what did you say?”
“I love you, (y/n)” he repeated, his breath gently fanning you.
You grew quiet, leaning back away from him; letting his words echo in your mind. You had repressed your own feelings for the swordsman out of fear, not wanting to make what you agreed on more than sex. But you would also be lying to yourself if you denied you wanted more from him; just too guarded to move on. You knew how fickle your emotions could be, so distraught just by the slightest movement; you didn’t want him to be the cause of this. You didn’t want him to regret being with you; repeating the same song of apology over and over.
“You don’t have to say it back” he whispered, his voice breaking out of sorrow.
“I just don’t want you to live your life with regret”
“I would never regret loving you”
“You don’t know that…” your hands slid down to his chest, shaking against his skin “you won’t know in months or years time; how it feels to love someone like me”
“I do; I have loved you for many months we have been together” his hands came over your own “and they have been the most magical months of my life”
“But…” you fumbled for words “we only agreed to sex… nothing more than that! We made a deal!”
“Yeah but things change, (y/n). I never planned on falling for you like this but I did and I can’t change that. I can’t change how I feel about you”
You dropped your head into the crook of his neck, letting a small whimper part from your lips. You shook your head, dazed by what he was saying; afraid to give yourself fully to him. Afraid to give yourself to someone who you loved just as much just to be hurt. His arms slid around to hold you once more, washing your back to occupy himself as you both sat there in silence for the remainder of the bath; not wishing to disturb the questioning ambience that hung overhead.
——————
You sat against the side of the ship, watching your crew party on into the night. There was a strong wind that picked up as the night went on, easing your overheated body from all the forced dancing by the young doctor.
You glanced up as a large body suddenly blocked your wind. Zoro slugged over the railing, grasping a bottle tight in his hand, his eyes shut. His body swayed to keep himself standing upright; clearly drunk from his chosen poison that night.
“Are you alright?” You questioned, his head turning towards your voice. He grunted, turning around; sitting down with a large crash. His head went back, pressing the bottle to his lips as he chugged the remaining liquor down; chucking the bottle over the side and into the water. Sighing heavily, his eye fell towards your own; making you look away quickly.
He slid down the wall, his head hitting the floor with a loud whack as he sprawled out on the cold floorboards, soaking up the cool breeze. His eyes never left you, fanning over your features, slowly savouring every inch of you. You pretended to ignore him, focusing on how the captain and some of your fellow crew still danced around the musician.
“You’re so beautiful” he slurred “I could stare at you for the rest of my life if you’d let me”.
“Don’t say that…” you looked away, hiding the blush on your face.
“It’s true” he insisted “everything about you is perfect; so perfect for me”.
“Zoro…” you sighed
“No, (y/n)” His hand traced up your thigh, alerting you enough to turn and look over at him. “Just listen to me, please”
You fumbled around to say something but he cut you off.
“I love you. And I know you don’t believe me, but I do. And I will do everything I can to keep you safe. I never wish to hurt you; to lay a hand on you like they did. I never want to betray your trust”
You both fell quiet, looking at each other, taking in what he said. His words struck you like an iron blade, not expecting to hear such words spoken from him. Not after the first time.
“You don’t want me…” you mumbled, looking away from him again “that’s not how you wish to live your life”
“Don’t tell me what I want, (y/n). We can make it work for us, I know it”
“But I’m-“
“I know you get scared and I know I fit every rule you have placed on yourself against people like me” he sat up, inching himself closer to you. “But I also know how in love with you I am and if you feel any feelings towards me we can make it work together! I want to protect you, (y/n)”
Zoro knew about your past; about the men that hurt you. He knew just as well as anyone else, if not more, about the pain they caused you; the marks on your body he kissed in bed. He knew about your fears and reservations with love; how unpredictable it could be and how men caused them to rise. He knew he wasn’t like that. He knew he was meant to be yours.
You looked back at him then, studying his face closely, reading his tranquil eye. You knew what he was saying wasn’t some drunken mistake; that wasn’t his style. Everything he said was sincere and respectful, knowing your boundaries. He licked his lips before continuing, his hand gently caressing your leg as he spoke.
“If I have to spend my life proving it to you, that you’re the person I want to be with for the rest of my life, than so be it!”
“You’re drunk Zoro… you can’t confess like this…”
“Sober thoughts of a drunk mind”
“A drunk mind speaks a sober heart?” You corrected.
“Yes! See, (y/n), you know what I’m saying is true”
“But you’re-”
“Drunk, yes I know that!” His hand moved to your face, gently cupping your cheek, working sharply before you had a chance to run.
“I-“ you fumbled again, lost for words, not knowing how to respond to his confessions.
“Just be with me” he mumbled “please”. He leaned in, his lips mere inches from you, waiting patiently for you to make the first move; wanting you to seal your declaration first. His breath ached of dry alcohol and lust, tempting you to lean further towards him; your lips almost touching, grazing gently as he breathed heavily against you.
“But you’re still this tall brutal man... you're a swordsman...” you whispered, your voice shaking “and I know I’m going to get hurt”
“But I’m not; I’m not them” he pleaded, his arms suddenly wrapping around you, pulling you in a tight embrace. His lips found their way to your neck, peppering soft kisses against your skin, mumbling soft pleas to understand him. To understand that he wasn’t your past. To understand that he wanted to be your future.
“I know…” you muttered “but that doesn’t change the fact that I’m scared of being hurt. You know that. You know what happened to me… I can’t let it happen again”
“Then what can I do to prove myself?”
“I don’t know” you admitted weakly, giving in, your body falling into his hug “I really don’t know”
——————
Pacing back and forth you nibbled at the skin around your finger, nervous for your crew to return from battle. It had been arranged you weren’t to step foot in a battle ground; knowing how easy you freeze under the stress of gruesome combat. You stayed aboard the Thousand Sunny with Nami, both keeping watch; her more on you than anything else.
“He’ll be fine, (y/n)!” Nami insisted, not looking up from her spot on the deck; basking in the sun overhead.
“Hmm?” You questioned, averting your attention over to her.
“Zoro” she clarified “he’ll be okay; he always is”
“How did you-?”
“It’s obvious” she rolled her eyes, propping herself up on her arms as she looked over at you. You stopped pacing, situating yourself near her, encouraging to continue.
“You both have feelings for each other and that’s okay; you can let yourself give in to him”
“But-”
“No” she cut you off again, not wishing to hear your excuses “he is brute I will admit to that… but he is loyal more than anything. The way he is to Luffy is something you have seen I am sure; it’s the same way he is with you”
You blushed, looking down at your hands, picking at your skin nervously.
“He loves you, (y/n), we can all see that. He would take all your pain away in a second if he could; he never wishes to make you go through that again. You don’t see it, but the way he watches over you is something almost alien to the way he is with everyone else. He would do anything to keep you safe”
You shrugged, not realising what she said was true, letting her words take time to sink in. You were well aware of his feelings for you; he had told you many times before. It was your guard that was holding you back. You needed to work this in your own pace; you needed time to heal.
She sighed. “I know the relationship you have with him is confusing but he would never go back on his word if something were to happen between you two; something more than sex”
“You may be right…” you whispered, wishing to cut the conversation short.
The call of your captain whirled your head back towards the side of the ship, watching as your crew finally made their return. Your eyes lingered on the sprout of green hair as Zoro rose over the side of the ship, taking in a big sigh of relief. His body was battered and bruised with scrapes and cuts which was usual for the swordsman; his usual buff skin leaving marks of his victory. Your eyes was the first thing he noticed, a wash of relief embracing him as he leaned against the side, his eyes darting over your body to make sure you were okay.
Once the full crew was assembled, Chopper began to shout orders, dividing the wounded into a group to be looked over. You cautiously made your way over, feeling confident to raise your voice with Chopper talking to Zoro.
“I’ll patch him”
With Chopper’s approval you eagerly made your way to the infirmary, ushering Zoro to follow you. He didn’t waste time following at your heels, just as excited to see you again.
The door clicked behind you as his arms looped around your body, crushing you into a tight hug. “I’m so glad you’re okay” he mumbled into your skin.
“Of course I am”
“They were coming this way…” he admitted “Yubi’s Crew were heading straight for the ship… I don’t know what I would have done if I came back and you weren’t here…”
“I’m okay; I know you wouldn’t let them hurt me” you stepped back from him, his arms finally letting you go “now go sit down so I can clean you up”
He blushed, not expecting his mannerisms to finally be believed, following your orders to the edge of the bed.
Slowly wiping over Zoro’s chest you cleaned off the excess blood, rinsing off the cloth into the bowl of dark water. Your movements were careful, not wishing to inflame any of his wounds, his body staying still; giving no rise to any major damage.
"I think I'm just about done" you promised, sopping up the remainder of blood around his abdomen. Satisfied with your progress you took a step back, examining your work. Your eyes met up to his, ignoring the damage you were supposed to check over.
He sprung up from his place, stalking over to you, not wishing to be apart from you; the distance like a stretch of ocean between you both. He stopped as he reached you, his face dropping, licking his lips before speaking.
"I know you're scared and I know that our dreams and our pasts are different... that I’m so swordsman that deals with things you’re afraid of… but I don't wish to live this life without you by my side. Out there I was so scared that I wasn't going to come back to you here, but when I saw you..."
He fluttered his eyes, blinking away brimming tears; a mixture of sadness and overwhelming relief. You stepped closer to him, closing the gap, your bodies radiating off each other in a delicious heat that flushed your faces.
“Zoro, I…”
His eye searched your face, a sad smile gracing his beautifully cracked and bloodied lips. Leaning in you swiftly pressed your lips to him, hoping you wouldn’t have to say anything for him to understand how you felt for him. You didn’t know how to confess without fear bubbling away at you; eating away as you projected words you didn’t even realise you were saying. You needed action. You needed this kiss to seal everything he already knew; everything he wanted.
Cupping your face be broke away, failing to hide his delighted smile. “So does this mean you feel the same?”
“Yeah”
He let out a soft chuckle, pulling your lips back on his; his lips parting to allow his tongue to glide across your lip. Your hands fell to his chest, scratching him softly as your kisses grew hungrier; your tongues battling to taste one another.
Eventually, he pulled away, gasping for air, the smile on his face remaining unbreakable with delight.
“What do you need for this to work? I don’t want to push you”
“Time” you admitted weakly “just time for me to come to terms with this… with us…”
“I’ll give you anything you ask for” his hands worked down around you ass, cupping you as he slipped you up around him, holding you tentatively. “All I ask is I get to love you as mine”.

i wrote up a whooole feral luffy AU bit on twitter last night so am posting it here too (slightly cleaned up) hahaha
Feral luffy AU where the basis is that Luffy is the one who, somehow, set sail the day the celestial dragons arrived and had his boat shot down.
He's considerably further out to sea when this happens, and when he falls into the water, he's swept away by a strange ocean current. He winds up on a deserted island surrounded by the same strange currents and it keeps him stranded.
Ace and Sabo are devastated by the loss of Luffy, as is Garp, Makino, Dadan and the bandits, and later on Dragon and Shanks when they find out, attempts are made to locate Luffy's body but they never find him, the assumption that he sank too far out into the ocean due to his devil fruit. Ace & Sabo grow up significantly less cheerful without Luffy's presence, but their bond to one another is as strong as ever.
Sabo fakes his death after begging Garp for help, anything to throw off his family from ever finding him again. Garp agrees because his hatred of certain nobility has grown significantly after Luffy's "death", and he can't stand the thought of losing another grandson.
Luffy meanwhile, adapts as best he can. Surviving in this new jungle is painful, but doable despite the constant near brushes with death. The true hardship is how lonely he is without his brothers. Luffy has always thrived in the company of others, and without any he struggles, but again, Luffy adapts.
He manages to befriend some of the animals in the jungle, and accidentally discovers conqueror's haki when he nearly loses his hat to a predator, his one link to something beyond this island.
The animals can't replace his brothers, but they ward off the loneliness. Throughout this time, Luffy makes multiple attempts to sail off the island with handmade rafts. Craftsmanship has never been his strong suit however, so they crumble instantly in the harsh currents.
Perhaps due to luck, the currents always wash him back ashore instead of allowing him to sink and drown. Luffy's speech also slowly degrades over time. As much as he loves talking to his animal friends, the inability to hear someone else speak causes his words to slur and distort
Ace and Sabo still hold true to their promise to set sail at age 17, but decide that they want to sail together instead of separating. When they finally set sail, they decide to take their time getting to the Grandline, exploring more of the East Blue at a leisurely pace.
After roughly a week of sailing, they get caught in a freak storm and are swept away by a giant wave where they too end up caught in the same strange current that stole Luffy all those years ago. The two wind up unconscious on Luffy's island, where Luffy finds them on the beach.
Luffy doesn't recognize them however, only that wow! For the first time since he arrived, there are other humans on the island with him that are alive! It's an exciting occurrence, and Luffy drags their bodies to the jungle where the tide won't reach.
When poking and prodding don't wake the two, Luffy sets off to gather food for his guests. He still remembers how tired and hungry he was when he first washed ashore, and figures they'd feel the same. As Luffy comes back, Ace wakes up in a panic.
Luffy rushes Ace in excitement and babbles. It's nearly incomprehensible to Ace however, especially in his panicked just-woken hazy-brained state. All Ace wants is to know where Sabo is and where this place is, and pushes Luffy away.
That's when Ace notices Sabo is lying just a few feet away asleep. The tension leaves him immediately and he's able to actually pay attention to the stranger trying to talk to him.
Luffy is young and shorter than what he would have been had he been able to grow up on Dawn Island. His hair is long, wild and tangled, and he's dressed in furs and leathers. As Ace is studying him, he asks if he's the one who saved him and Sabo.
For a moment Luffy stares silent, mind untangling the words until they make sense, and then he nods exuberantly. He tries to explain that he found them unconscious on the beach along with their boat, but Ace can barely decipher Luffy's speech. It sounds like someone speaking with a heavy accent at lightning speed.
But it’s then Ace notices the faint scar under Luffy's eye, and the strawhat hanging off his back. That in combination with Luffy's excited movements and speech sets off confusing alarms in his head.
Luffy's dead, Ace knows this, but he forces this strange kid to calm down and asks for his name. Again it takes a moment for Luffy to understand, and he replies. There's that same strange lilt to his words, but it's clear. Monkey D. Luffy! and it's said with a wide, proud grin.
Ace's world tilts then. Luffy? MONKEY D. LUFFY? His brain feels like its shorting out, refusing to register this new bit of information. He thinks he chokes a reply of some kind, but his mind feels blank. Luffy only laughs, not noticing Ace's shock.
In broken speech he asks for Ace's name too, but Ace doesn't hear his question, can only stare at Luffy's face. It can't be Luffy, he thinks. Because if it is... IF IT IS... They're only roughly a week's sail from Dawn Island. Just 7 days.
Is this boy trying to tell Ace that Luffy, in these past 7 years, was only a 7 days boat ride away? And they simply didn't look hard enough? He was here all alone while Ace and Sabo moved on? Ace's heart feels like it's constricting as his vision tunnels in on Luffy.
Luffy's finally noticed that this stranger is looking pale and ill, and pats him in worry. Is he sick? Does he need food? Are you okay, he asks. Ace grabs Luffy's arm then and stares at him with a strange expression. Luffy, it's me, he says, voice shaking. Ace.
Luffy's brows furrow in confusion and he tilts his head. Ace repeats himself, voice growing stronger. I'm Ace! he exclaims, and waits (prays) to see the light of recognition in Luffy's eyes.
Luffy mouths Ace's words silently to himself with frown. Ace? ...ACE! Luffy suddenly leaps towards Ace, landing directly on his chest and crushing him against a tree. He's directly on him and he's got Ace's head clasped roughly between his hands as he stares at his face intently
Ace? Luffy asks out loud, and starts repeating it over and over as he studies Ace's face. Luffy's grip is stronger than expected but Ace manages to give a jerky nod. The piercing stare breaks and Luffy's eyes water. ACE! he cries out in joy and it's the only word he can say.
Luffy wildly paws at Ace's face, then shoulders and arms, as if trying to make sure he's really there, and he's laughing and crying all at once. He then suddenly turns to Sabo on the ground and starts patting his body. He looks up at Ace with a hopeful smile and asks, Sabo?
Ace chokes back a sob because oh. OH. It's really Luffy! He was here this whole time and they never knew! Why hadn't they just looked HARDER? Luffy meanwhile crows in joy and triumph that BOTH his brothers are here with him.
Ace gets down next to Sabo and starts violently shaking him. Wake up WAKE UP, how can he be SLEEPING when the greatest thing they thought they had lost was BACK. Sabo groans awake and is greeted by the pained teary face of Ace and an equally teary, but grinning stranger
the shock of the scene jolts Sabo upright and he asks what's wrong? What happened? Ace just points to the boy beside him. It's Luffy, he says through clenched teeth, as if he were trying his best to stave off a breakdown. Huh? Sabo replies, what about Luffy?
it's LUFFY, Ace grits out again, and this time Luffy chimes in with a cheery, Sabo! and leans in close to his face. Sabo is still confused and Ace nearly snarls in frustration. Luffy's ALIVE, Ace growls, and Luffy laughs. Sabo stares at Luffy and understanding slowly dawns.
Luffy? he asks in disbelief, and Luffy nods excitedly before crowding in Sabo's face even more. Sabo! Luffy says with a smile and starts repeating his name like he had done with Ace earlier. Sabo, Luffy's been here this whole time, Ace says in a pained whisper.
This whole time? And the same realization that Ace had grows in Sabo. Luffy, you've been here, all alone...? And we were so close? Sabo's body moves and wraps Luffy's body in a bone crushing hug. Luffy, I- we didn't know! Sabo stammers but it sounds like a terrible excuse.
Guilt is devouring both Ace and Sabo but Luffy is only smiling. He's overjoyed that his brothers are here, and with their help he can definitely get off this island now! Things do work out!
We have to go back to Dawn Island, Sabo says suddenly. We need to take Luffy home and we- we gotta tell Gramps! And Dadan and Makino! Luffy's okay! He's okay! And it's like a dam breaks and Sabo is the first one to break down into a full-body sob.
Luffy gives a cry of dismay and does his best to comfort Sabo. Ace gives in and wraps both Luffy and Sabo in a hug. Both older brothers are whispering apologies to Luffy responds with just wrapping his arms several times around them both in one of his infamous rubbery hugs.
like luffy had tried to explain earlier, the brothers' ship is beached on the coast and, surprisingly, only suffering a few minor scuffs. their departure is fairly swift, only waiting for the ideal weather after gathering some supplies and luffy's scant belongings
Perhaps one or two of Luffy's animal friends joins them, but regardless, with the help of a 3 man crew, a sturdy ship, and an actual navigator, Luffy finally escapes the island, and the 3 brothers head home.
Now all Ace and Sabo have to worry about is helping Luffy readjust to human civilization........

"I don't need to hide behind Marco, trust me. Or do you need me to kick your ass again?” I said, rolling my eyes.
“Well, well, well, what a little brat we have here. You haven’t kicked anything, rookie. I know you like being close to me and the idea of touching me". - He surrounds my shoulders with his arms as he continued, “But it’s still too early for that, besides I don’t think Marco would like seeing his cute little sister all over me.” That cocky smile hanging around his lips all day was starting to become annoyingly familiar.
“Nobody’s going to be all over anybody. Besides, I prefer men, not little boys.” I said, brushing his arm off.
Ace started laughing, and before we realized we had finally reached the deck. Several crew members began calling out to Ace, asking him to tell them about his most recent mission and how he had single-handedly defeated an entire crew of marines.
In the distance, Marco raised an arm, signaling me to come over. At the table, Izou, Jozu, Thatch, and Fossa were talking with serious, calm expressions about crews next moves and pop´s directives. Marco moved to the side, leaving a spot next to him open, indicating for me to sit there.
“He told me you were dead, you know?” Our eyes met, intrigued by each other’s presence. “That’s why I didn’t look for you.” Marco’s words automatically brought images from the past to my mind. But it was too much, too painful.
“I also thought I was dead. Dead inside.” The images in my mind were becoming more terrifying, replaying everything I had lived through in Mary Geoise. “There are many things I want to tell you, but… right now, I can’t. It’s… too painful.”
“It’s okay, take your time. I just want to know if you’re okay, if you’ve been okay… Eight years ago, I lost track of you, and a few days ago, not only do I see you alive, but also a prisoner of a Celestial Dragon.”
“Our mother died so I could live,” I murmured.
“That was her choice, not your fault.” Marco continued “You should talk to Pops… one of these days, when you feel ready.”
“I suppose.”
Our conversation was quickly interrupted by a burst of fire, which all of us at the table, though caught off guard, surprisingly dodged with ease.
“Why the long faces, geezers? Come on, rookie, I’ll introduce you to the rest of the crew. You’ve sat down at the most boring table on the entire Moby Dick,” Ace said, putting his arm around my shoulders under Marco’s watchful eye.
“I know you like the idea of being close to me,” I said sarcastically, referencing our conversation from a few moments ago, “But I can go by myself, thank you very much.” Marco’s gaze intensified as he fixed it on Ace’s arms.
Marco wasn’t new to this, and he knew exactly how Ace was with girls—his modus operandi, his womanizing ways, and of course, how much he enjoyed annoying Marco. But above all, he was afraid of you falling into his charm, or you suffering disappointment since Ace had never been with the same girl for more than one night. As soon as you landed on the next island, he would seek new entertainment, and by the next morning, on the next island, he would take another girl to the Moby Dick until he got tired, and so on and on.
“You know? I love driving Marco crazy,” Ace whispered in my ear. Driving Marco crazy? That’s it—all those words and approaches were just to tease Marco. My stomach turned, but it doesn’t matter because I don’t like him, I don’t like him at all, he might even annoy me.
Yes! That’s it!! Plus I´ve know him just for a few days.
I got up from the table, trying to escape from Marco and Ace gazes for a while, not really knowing where to go since there weren’t many girls or people my age, except for a few of Whitebeard’s nurses and, well… Ace.
Soon, I spotted Vista, and although so far he had been one of the few who had said a few words to me, a huge smile hid behind his peculiar mustache—a smile that gave me enough confidence to approach. He was sitting around a bonfire while another man played a guitar and the others sang with enthusiasm. Next to him, a huge lynx lay resting. It must have sensed my presence as I approached because, with an uncertain look, it quickly sat up, and the closer I got, the more it let out small growls.
“He likes you, doesn’t he, Kotatsu?” Vista said with an even bigger smile
Responding with a smile of my own, I sat down next to the huge feline. “I get along well with animals; sometimes I prefer them over people.”
Vista let out a laugh, and the lynx lay back down, placing one of its paws on my lap.
As the night wore on and after a long chat with Vista and some of the other members who joined our conversation from time to time, my gaze occasionally crossed with Ace’s in the distance, who was dancing and drinking with the crew merrily.
Suddenly, he jumped onto a table, dancing and doing somersaults, though due to the alcohol, he looked more like a clumsy clown, and as his gaze met mine, he stepped on one of the plates, and unable to catch himself, his face slammed into the table. The burst of laughter from the crew was the biggest I had witnessed so far. Ace lifted his face and laughed, blushing like crazy, a hand ran through his hair in search of his hat to cover his face.
I had to admit it—he was handsome, very handsome.
On his cheek, blood oozed red from a cut he had gotten from the impact. Marco, sighing and with all the calm in the world, walked over to where Ace was, “Come on, time to sleep.” Ace, still a bit affected by the alcohol and not quite understanding why his friend wanted to spoil his fun by taking him to bed, turned around, “It’s still early, Marco, don’t be a party pooper.”
“It’s almost dawn; it’d be better if I treat that wound, and you go to sleep. You can barely stand,” Marco said as he and Thatch took Ace, putting his arms over their shoulders and dragging him toward the infirmary. It was then that Ace, as he passed by my side, quickly straightened up and approached my spot.
“Well, looks like you can walk by yourself now…” Thatch said sarcastically.
“Look, rookie, now we match” Ace said, pointing to the wound on his cheek. Without giving me time to respond, he continued, “If you want, I can take you to my room… I mean, to your room… This ship is very big; it’s easy to get lost” he said, babbling.
Behind him, Marco, furious and clearly tired of babysitting, quickly grabbed Ace’s arm. “Nobody’s taking anyone anywhere, except me taking you to the infirmary,” Marco exclaimed. “And you, go to bed right now,” he continued, this time in a calm voice, clearly addressing me.
I woke up the next day—well, more like the afternoon. Marco wasn’t in his bed anymore, so I assumed he was in the infirmary. I quickly washed up and dressed. On the floor in front of the door, there was a note:
“Come to the kitchen when you read this.” – Thatch.
I headed to the kitchen to find Thatch and a few othermembers washing dishes and cleaning up the mess from the previous night’s party. So, I started helping with gathering plates and glasses to take them to the sink.
“Ah, there you are” Thatch said from afar. “Come, take this food to the boxes. We need to make sure we have enough food for the night; I don’t want to hear Ace complaining about being hungry.” My look of surprise made him continue, “Haven’t you talked to Marco?”
“No, I haven’t seen him yet.”
“Good, you’re coming with the First and Fourth Divisions to the island. We’ll arrive in an hour. You should change your clothes; I think there are some black suits in the storage room. Since it’s nighttime, that’ll be the best option for you to blend in.” And as he walked away, he remembered he haven´t mention the most important thing, he stops and continued. “The Second Division has its own mission too; if something goes wrong, we’ll have to support them. Don’t worry, from what I saw a few days ago, you have no problem defending yourself,” he said with a kind smile.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
I found the storage room easily, thanks to Thatch’s directions. Inside the boxes, all sorts of gadgets were hidden behind the lids. In one of them, there were military-style clothing and gear. I grabbed one of the black jumpsuits, the smallest one I could find, and returned to my room to change and tie up my hair.

Not wasting much more time, I went back up to the deck. Thatch greeted me again with a smile. “This island is part of our territory, Whitebeard’s Pirates’ territory. We believe another crew has taken it, so the Second Division will go to defeat them, while we’ll gather supplies in the forest.”
No sooner said than done, I headed down to the port along with Tatch and Kotatsu, who now wouldn’t leave my side. Before us, a vast island with a tropical landscape lay, filled with towering and endless palm trees.
As we walked down a long dirt road, Kotatsu suddenly dashed ahead, heading straight towards the front lines where the first division was located, leaping and licking a boy with blue hair and a mask.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Just as we were almost done, a tremendous explosion caught our attention. As we approached the source of the noise, I noticed that one of the crew members’ eyes changed color, and his ears grew on top of his head; he had caught a scent and was already racing towards the sound without hesitation. Shouts and echoes of gunfire filled the forest, and the urgency of the situation became clear.
“It looks like the Second Division had company,” one of them noted as we began to move faster.
‘Go ahead with Kotatsu, grab a cart, and he’ll pull it. I’ll see if Marco is finished as well.’ Tatch speak up.
‘Let’s go, Kotatsu,’ I said to the large lynx with a smile. He responded with a lick on my face and eagerly set off to pull the cart.
After a while on the long road, suddenly, unfamiliar laughter and shadows emerged from the darkness of the forest. ‘Well, look at what we have here,’ said one of the men. ‘A little girl with her pet.’
Pirates. Probably the ones who were besieging the town.
‘Hasn’t anyone ever told you not to go out alone at night?’ said another, as more men emerged from the shadows.
About ten pirates positioned themselves around us, blocking any escape routes. Kotatsu began to get nervous, whimpering and looking around frantically. ‘Easy,’ I said, placing one of my hands on his fur. ‘Take these supplies to the ship; I’ll handle them.’
The animal immediately calmed down and, now composed, resumed his path towards the ship.
‘Where do you think you’re going with that little kitty?’ one of the pirates rushed at us.
My arms turned black as coal, and with quick, almost invisible movements, I delivered a powerful punch to the pirate. He fell to the ground, knocked out and unconscious. I looked at Kotatsu, nodding for him to continue on his way.
‘I guess no one told you that stalking around at night is wrong.’ I said.
The remaining nine pirates tensed up, taking positions to fight. Two quickly lunged at me, but I swiftly dodged them, striking them with my arms. A third hit me with his sword, and I fell to the ground. Dazed from the blow, I knew I had to do something—something more. The pirates began to crowd around me, preparing to attack all at once to capture me more easily.
I looked at the sky: a crescent moon. Perfect. No danger.
It was the perfect time to use my devil fruit. It had been too long since I last fought, and even longer since I fought in this form, but it was better to try.
A massive snow white dragon appeared before the incredulous eyes of the pirates. With great ease, I struck down several with my claws, and a loud roar sent the rest fleeing towards the city, terrified and panic-stricken. Easy.
I took to the sky, spotting Kotatsu running towards the port, where the rest of the divisions were patiently waiting for us to return.
In the city square, the second division was fiercely battling the rival crew, completely surrounded by flames. In one corner, the boy with blue hair was lying on the ground, struggling to fend off two men attacking him mercilessly.
I continued my flight towards the square. Since I had taken the form of a dragon, I might as well put it to use. The sensation of flying again filled my body with happiness, the wind rushing against my face and the night breeze give me strength and hope.
To the cries and surprise of those in the square, I descended. With great force and ease, I struck down the men harassing the blue-haired boy, who was now petrified by the enormous creature before him, fainting completely. Some of the opposing pirates threw arrows, knives, and hurled any object they could find at me. Meanwhile, I tried to strike anyone who stood in our way with my long limbs.
There were hardly any pirates left from the rival crew when a large blaze formed a path, illuminating the square. ‘Your captain is unconscious. You better leave now if you don’t want to meet the same fate,’ said Ace as he emerged from the flames.
The few remaining ruffians ran towards the port where the flames subsided, searching for their ship and an escape.
I turned my head towards the blue-haired boy, who was still unconscious on the ground. I approached him, picked him up with one of my claws, and headed towards the Moby Dick.
‘¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡Deuce!!!!!!’ Ace shouted, sounding desperate. He quickly ignited his fist, launching a fireball towards my body.
‘¡Wait Ace!’ Marco grabbed his arm, lowering it, causing the fire to dissipate. ‘She’s got Deuce,’ Ace yelled, pointing at me. Marco stood still as the dragon’s body, now engulfed in flames, began to absorb all the fire.
FIRE. A deep, resonant voice grew stronger within me.
Damn. My vision started to blur, more and more until everything turned black.
--------------------------------------------------------------
‘Come back... Y/N... you have to come back now, or the boy will die’—my mother appeared before me, her sweet voice repeating the same thing over and over as she stroked my hair.
‘Come back where, Mom? What boy…?’
A black shadow once again took over my vision.
In the distance, I heard the waves crashing and a silence; nothing could be heard, just the calm of the high seas at night. That’s it, the sea….
The black color started to change to a dark blue, and the moonlight illuminated the deck of an enormous ship far away. Everything returned to its place. What have you done…? How long have I been gone…? Without thinking, I looked at my claw, and behind my talons, the young boy still lay unconscious. I looked around, realizing I had flown so high that I was above the few clouds that remained in that vast sky. In the distance, the Moby Dick. I was about to head there when my entire body was overwhelmed by the deep wounds now covering me. Damn it. What have you been doing….?
Despite the intense pain my body felt, I took flight and quickly reached the deck of the Moby Dick. A few crew members were still storing and organizing supplies while Whitebeard and several other commanders were in the center, deep in discussion.
Barely in control of my movements, I released the boy onto the deck, opening my claw, and landed as best I could, all under the watchful eye of Whitebeard and the horrified cries of some crew members, terrified by such a beast.
‘Y/N, where were you?!??’ Marco was running, shouting in my direction. ‘Are you out of your mind? You know you can’t do that at night; you knew, and you didn’t care,’ he continued as I slowly changed back to my human form. ‘And what happened to you? Where were you? You’ve been missing for two hours; look at you, covered in wounds! What have you done?!’
The entire crew, commanders, and even Whitebeard himself turned their heads, astonished at the incredible scene. A girl, now naked, standing with a serious expression, lay before them.
‘I’m fine,’ I said, which would be the last thing I said that night as I collapsed from the intense pain I felt. Now, safe among my comrades, I could finally pass out.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
I woke up with a start and a muffled scream, waking Kotatsu, who was sleeping on the floor next to my bed. On the other side, in a second bed, the blue-haired boy looked at me, intrigued.
‘I think he likes you,’ he said with no emotion in his voice, pointing at the lynx. ‘You can call me Deuce.’
‘I’m Y/N. I’ve never seen you before. But to be honest, I haven’t been here long either,’ I said, laughing.
‘I don’t come out much… from the library I mean… unless there’s a mission.’
Marco burst through the door, looking frantic. ‘Does anything hurt?’ Marco asked, breathless. ‘When you didn’t return to the ship… I… God, you scared me to death.’ Marco hugged me tightly. ‘Thank Deuce; he healed you this morning, so there’s hardly any trace of the wounds left.’
‘Bah, something I read in a book,’ Deuce replied, still with a serious, albeit faintly trembling, expression.
‘We’re staying on the island for another week in case those idiots decide to come back… Now, go, both of you. You have the afternoon and night off. And Y/N… Don’t transform into anything else...please.’
---------------------------------------------------------------
The mirror in the room I shared with Marco was smaller than I’d like, but it was enough to see how all the wounds on my body were now barely shadows.
‘Y/N?’ Izou called from the door.
“Izou!” I responded with a big smile and quickly opened the door.
“The crew is heading to the town's bar tonight... Do you want to come? I’m not sure how you’re feeling after last night…”
“I’ll be there,” I replied quickly. Izou gave a small smile and disappeared down the hallway.
I figured I should go to town, maybe find a salon and buy some clothes. The tips of my hair, now a honey color, were already starting to return to their natural shade. It wouldn’t hurt to change my look a bit and be less recognizable… But first, I needed to find some money.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
I bought several skirts, pants, tops, and dresses, and then headed to the salon.
“I want it honey-colored and with bangs, please” I told the hairdresser. She proceeded just as I asked, and after a few hours, the work was done.
Tumblr media
“It looks great. Are you going to the bar later?”
“Maybe,” I said, laughing.
“You should go; everyone’s going tonight. The Whitebeard Pirates defeated those thugs yesterday and all the young people in town will be there to celebrate. Oh, and the Whitebeard Pirates will be there too, or so I’ve heard! You should go; all the girls are talking about Fire Fist Ace being there.”
“Well, I don’t think it’s that big of a deal,” I said, rolling my eyes.
“They say he’s handsome, and he always leaves with some girl. It could be you!”
Ugh. No, please.
“Well, don’t tell me you’re not interested… Although, you might need to be careful—he's a pirate." she said, laughing cheerfully as she saw the disgust on my face.
Disgust? Did he really disgust you that much?
“If you’re going, it’s best if I do your makeup. Want some? Something natural! Don’t worry, it’s on the house! I’m sure you’ll catch the attention of the guys, maybe even Fire Fist Ace attention!”
“Thank you so much, I’d love that. Although I’m not trying to get anyone’s attention tonight,” I laughed.
I left the salon just as the sun was setting, so I headed straight to the bar.
The hairdresser had let me use her private bathroom to change clothes, so I put on a dress and some not-too-high heels that she insisted a bit too much on me wearing. It was hard to walk since I’d never worn heels before, but I was slowly getting the hang of it.
The bar was down the street, and a large crowd was already gathering in front of the place.
I entered the bar, trying to spot any members of the crew. At the first table, a group of countless girls was trying to get closer and closer to the center, where, of course, Ace was. With a big smile and laughing, he was relating how he had bravely fought the captain of those ruffians. The girls were squealing, touching him, and even moving around him, trying to get his attention.
I walked past them and towards the back, where Vista, Izou, Marco, and several other commanders were sharing large barrels of beer.
“Wow, Y/N, you look… stunning,” Izou said, eyes wide.
“We almost didn’t recognize you, kid,” Vista chuckled.
“I’m not a kid, I’m 25, you know,” I replied, rolling my eyes.
“You’ll always be a kid,” Marco whispered as he hugged me.
“Here, Y/N, have some beer,” Jozu said kindly, though handing me the mug a bit roughly.
The truth is, I didn’t like beer at all. So I got up to the bar in search of another drink. “I’ll be right back.”
At the bar, Deuce, with the longest face I’d ever seen on him, was staring at the table, lost in thought.
“What are you doing here alone?” I asked, standing next to him.
“Ace made me come.”
The bartender interrupted our conversation. A tall guy with brown hair and honey-colored eyes spoke with a big smile on his face. “So, what would you like?”
“The same as him,” I replied, pointing at Deuce.
The guy turned around, ready to prepare my drink.
“You know, maybe you shouldn’t stare at people… so intensely…” Deuce smiled slightly. I’d say this wasn’t very characteristic of him.
“Oh my god, was I staring that much?” We both laughed, but another voice interrupted our chat.
“Sweetheart, I don’t know what you’ve done to Deuce, but it’s been years since I’ve seen him laugh.” Ace approached from behind, grabbing Deuce by the shoulders. “Although I’m not surprised; I’d be happy too if I were with such a pretty girl.”
He looked at me, and his eyes widened. He hadn’t recognized me.
“Y/N… I didn’t recognize you,” he said, laughing.
“Here you go, on the house,” the young bartender interrupted, winking at me.
“Well, well, looks like someone’s getting lucky,” Ace crossed his arms, now with a faint smile.
“Ace!!! Come over here tell us again how you defeated those pirates!” some girls shouted from a table in the distance.
“Duty calls,” Ace said, turning around and running towards the table where the girls were sighing at his stories, dancing, and trying to get him to take them out dancing.
After watching him for a second, Deuce returned to his drink. “Ace is always the center of attention,” he said with an indifferent tone.
“Yeah, he seems to be good at it,” I responded, watching how Ace moved easily through the crowd, enjoying the affection he received.
“I guess that’s what happens when you’re that charismatic,” Deuce continued, taking another sip.
“And handsome,” I added without thinking, which made Deuce raise an eyebrow and look at me curiously.
“So, you think he’s handsome?”
I felt myself blush and quickly tried to correct my comment.
“Well, it’s a fact, isn’t it? I mean, all those girls aren’t after him for nothing.”
I stayed at the bar for a moment, watching how Ace moved among the girls with his typical confidence. I smiled to myself; it was amusing how his presence could light up a place in seconds. But I wasn’t there to watch Ace; I had come to enjoy the night and, if possible, relax a bit after everything that had happened.
I turned to Deuce, who was still somewhat pensive, though with a slight smile on his lips. "So Ace dragged you here, huh? Doesn’t seem like your kind of place," I said, trying to keep the conversation light.
Deuce sighed, taking a sip of his drink. "Yeah, well, Ace has always been the life of the party. Sometimes it’s just easier to go along with it than to resist.Ace had that strange ability to pull everyone along at his pace, almost as if it were impossible to say no to him". He proceed.
"So, what about you? What do you do when you’re not going along with Ace’s plans?"
Deuce looked at me, and for a moment, I thought he was going to close up again. But instead, he seemed to relax a bit more. "Usually, I’m busy writing. Sometimes I like to get lost in words, write stories, reflect on what we’ve experienced at sea… It’s kind of an escape, I suppose."
I was a bit surprised by the revelation. Deuce seemed more thoughtful than most of the other pirates, but I hadn’t imagined he was a writer.
"That sounds interesting. Have you ever thought about sharing what you write?"
Deuce smiled, this time with a bit more warmth. "Maybe someday. For now, I do it for myself. It’s a way to process everything that happens around us."
I nodded, understanding. Sometimes, in a world as chaotic as ours, it was necessary to find a way to vent, to channel all the emotions and experiences we accumulated.
The conversation flowed naturally, and for a while, I forgot about the bustling crowd around us. It was nice to have a calm conversation, without the usual distractions. However, eventually, the noise in the bar began to intensify, and I noticed more members of the crew joining in the festivities.
"Looks like things are picking up," I said, looking around.
Deuce nodded. "Yeah, and it’ll probably get crazier as the night goes on."
At that moment, I felt a hand on my shoulder, and when I turned around, I found Marco, smiling at me with his usual calmness. "Come to the table. We’ve ordered some food, and we don’t want you guys to miss out."
I nodded, grateful for the invitation. "Sure, let’s go."
The night was filled with laughter, music, camaraderie ( and of cause Ace´s eyes meeting yours all night long), and I realized that despite all the complications, I had found a place where I could be myself, surrounded by people who, even though they were pirates, were like family. And that, amidst all the chaos, was what truly mattered.
The atmosphere in the bar was at its peak, with the music booming and laughter echoing throughout the place. However, Ace wasn’t the only one drawing attention.
The bartender, that tall guy with brown hair and honey-colored eyes who had winked at me earlier, seemed to be watching me from behind the bar. Every time I approached to order something or just passed by, he found some excuse to talk to me or give me a compliment. At first, I ignored it, thinking he was just being friendly, but when he insisted on giving me another drink on the house, I couldn’t help but notice the uncomfortable look on Deuce’s face next to me.
"Wow, you’ve become the star of the night," Deuce commented quietly, half-jokingly.
"What?" I asked, confused by his remark.
"The bartender hasn’t stopped looking at you since you walked in," Deuce clarified with a slight smile.
I turned towards the bar, and sure enough, the bartender was preparing another drink for me without me even asking. He approached with the glass in hand and a smile that seemed overly enthusiastic.
"This one’s on the house, for the most beautiful girl of the night," he said, handing me the glass. His words were flattering, but there was something in his tone that made me feel a bit uncomfortable.
"Thanks, but it really wasn’t necessary," I responded.
"It’s just a small gesture. I can’t help it; when I see someone so special, I like to make sure they’re enjoying the night."
Before I could respond, I felt a presence beside me, and when I turned my head, I found Ace standing there. His expression no longer showed the carefree smile from before. There was a seriousness in his eyes that I rarely saw, and his posture was tense, as if he was about to confront an enemy.
"Thanks for the gesture," Ace said, taking the drink from my hands before I could even taste it and downing the whole thing in one gulp. "But I don’t think she needs anything else tonight."
